[WARNING: This post contains MAJOR spoilers from Season 5 of Emily in Paris.]

Another season of Emily in Paris is here! Season 5 of the hit Netflix show began with Emily (Lily Collins) in Rome as Agence Grateau launched a new office. It was perfect timing, too, because it allowed Emily to pursue her romantic relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).

Of course, things didn’t go without some complications. Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) showed up in Rome in the first episode, but when he saw Emily and Marcello together, he decided to take Sylvie’s (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) advice to “live some life” and let things play out.

But 10 episodes later, how did things end for Emily at the end of Season 5? Scroll down for a recap, and to find out how things played out for Mindy (Ashley Park) after a love triangle of her own.

Who did Emily end up with in Emily in Paris Season 5?

Emily didn’t officially end up with anybody. It was a season of ups and downs for her and Marcello. First, they broke up after Emily realized that he was hoping for Agence Grateau to fail as the marketing firm for his family’s company, Muratori, so they could sell to another brand, JVMA.

However, Emily and Marcello reconnected when he and Mindy’s ex-boyfriend Nicolas (Paul Forman) decided to go into business together and start their own fashion line. Emily realized that Marcello had been honest with her from the beginning about wanting to sell to JVMA, and decided to forgive him. With Marcello now in Paris to run his new company, they were able to give their relationship another shot.

Ultimately, the season ended with Emily and Marcello breaking up because his mother saw how successful his line was and decided to appoint him the head of Muratori, prompting him to move back to Italy. Even though Marcello wanted Emily to come with him, she knew her life was in Paris, and she decided to head back there alone instead.

Meanwhile, Gabriel didn’t end up telling Emily that he came to Rome to see her. Back in Paris, he and Antoine (William Abadie) argued over the restaurant’s menu, which Gabriel wanted to change. He left the restaurant and pursued a new career path as a private chef on a yacht instead.

In Episode 9, Gabriel called Emily because he left some of his knives in France and asked her if she could return them to him at the train station. He only had about an hour in Paris, but they were able to catch up over a quick, friendly lunch. Gabriel finally came clean about following Emily to Rome, and they both agreed that they just want each other to be happy.

After Emily and Marcello broke up, Sylvie texted Gabriel to let him know. Gabriel was about to have a few days off from work in Greece. The final episode ended with Gabriel writing Emily a postcard, asking her to meet him there.

Who did Mindy end up with in Emily in Paris Season 5?

Season 5 began with Mindy single after ending her relationship with Nicolas because she realized he valued his family name and status more than her. Mindy struck up a secret romance with Emily’s ex, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), which began in Rome and continued back in Paris.

Mindy and Alfie planned to tell Emily their secret during Episode 5, but after Nicolas came to Emily’s show at the Crazy Horse to apologize and to tell her he had changed, Mindy thwarted the conversation. Alfie was, understandably, frustrated. Things took another turn when Mindy found out Nicolas resigned from JVMA, finally proving that he was ready to put her ahead of his family.

Mindy decided to take Nicolas back, but Alfie wound up becoming a consultant for Nicolas and Marcello’s company, so he was still in Mindy’s orbit. He warned her that she was making a mistake by taking Nicolas back. “People don’t change,” Alfie insisted during a night out. “The guy’s a snake.”

While Mindy was in Venice so Marcello and Nicolas could debut their line at Fashion Week, she received a call from Alfie, who told her he felt like they still “have something” and that he wanted to see her back in Paris. However, Nicolas ended up proposing to Mindy in Venice, and she accepted.

Back in Paris, Alfie saw her ring, and warned Mindy that she was “making a big mistake” before they parted ways. “Do you still have feelings for him?” Emily asked Mindy. Her hesitation to answer was an answer in itself.
