During Episode 1 of Before the 90 Days Season 8, fans were introduced to Rick Van Vactor, a Californian taking his love abroad to meet his girlfriend, Trisha Stiley, for the first time in her home country, Madagascar. As of Episode 2, Rick and Trisha are finally together, ready to explore their relationship in person. Now, they’ve started exploring Madagascar together, danced in the street, and discussed the five-day ghosting that has loomed over their relationship ever since.

Who is Before the 90 Days star Rick Van Vactor?
According to TLC, 52-year-old 90 Day newbie Rick Van Vactor is “a jack-of-all-trades and a divorced single dad who believes he’s finally found the right woman to complete his family.” During Episode 1, he explained that he is a high-quality wig salesman. He revealed, “I started a hair and wig extension business because my ex-wife’s a hairstylist.” He also teaches tap dancing!
Who is Rick’s girlfriend, Trisha Stiley?
Trisha Stiley is a 25-year-old midwife who lives in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Before Rick traveled to Madagascar, Trisha ghosted him for five days, leading to a mysterious confession that Rick was waiting for the right moment to share. She told viewers during Episode 2, “I’m a midwife because I love babies.” She continued to share, “In my tribe we believe that every woman should have [a] child.”

Why did Trisha ghost Rick?
Trisha explained to viewers, “About a month ago, I had a lot going on in my life, and for five days I didn’t answer Rick’s call.” When Rick brought up Trisha’s five days of no contact, she told him, “I promise I will tell you everything, but promise me that you won’t get mad.” Trisha claims the real reason behind her silence was that her ex-boyfriend got robbed, and blamed her for it. She explained, “He blames me, like I was [an] accomplice for everything. So I was really nervous and upset.”
But that wasn’t it. Her brother also got injured in those few days. “And also I didn’t tell you everything, but, after my ex-boyfriend got robbed, my brother got in accident. He hurt someone, bumped someone on my scooter. We did a lot of process, like going for the radiographic, and the guy at the hospital, we paying for his food and paying for everything he needs. Then we went to the police to pay for the amends.” She then explained, “I didn’t even really care about my phone. I didn’t even wanted to talk to anybody when I came back there because I was nervous.”
Did Rick cheat on Trisha?
Turns out, Trisha wasn’t the only one hiding something about those five days. At the end of Episode 3, Rick told a producer, “For those five days, I talked to my ex from Colombia, and she said that, you know, why don’t you come down here, I’m missing you. And so, I decided to book a trip and go spend time with her. Even though Trish started talking to me again, in my heart, I believe that she cheated on me. And so I still went to Columbia. My ex stayed with me for the week. We were acting as a couple once again.”
Naturally, the producer asked if Rick and his ex had sex during their time together, and he told them, “We had sex all the time, the whole time, multiple times a day, every day.” Rick has yet to tell Trisha about his time with his ex.
Does Rick Van Vactor have kids?
Rick has five children. He told viewers, “Anytime that I have free, I’m spending with my kids. I have five children, three are grown adults from previous relationships, and two young sons from my most recent relationship.” During the first episode, viewers met Rick’s two youngest children, Fredrick, 2, and Samson, 6. Later, at a family dinner, Rick introduced his oldest son, Dougie, who is 29. “I love being a dad,” he shared. “It brings joy to my heart, and I consider it a blessing.”
Trisha has made it clear that she also wants to have babies. She told Rick, “Look at you and look at me, we could make beautiful babies.” Rick, who made it clear that he has five of his own kids, was far more hesitant about making the family even bigger.

How did Rick and Trisha meet?
Apparently, Rick learned that Madagascar was a real place and not just a Dreamworks film when he met two women from Madagascar while he was traveling. (Neither of these women was Trisha.) Instead, he explained, “I love to travel, and on a recent trip, I met two very attractive women from Madagascar… I thought to myself, these girls are so beautiful, so I decided to go on a dating site and search for Madagascar.” That’s where he met Trisha.
Rick explained, “When I first saw her pictures, I just thought she was so adorable with her curly hair and her smile.” Trisha quickly started texting Rick many times a day, and the rest was history!
