Inside ’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Greta Lin’s Sudden Split With Matthew on ‘The Other Way’

During Episode 13 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, only a few short days after coming to live with Matthew in England, Greta Lin told her fiancé, “The honest truth is, I don’t think I love you anymore,” a reveal that he felt came from nowhere. What followed was an incredibly emotional and heartbreaking split between the two animal advocates.
While there’s still time for 90 Day Fiancé‘s Greta and Matthew to reignite their flame — in the most recent episode, Matthew was still fighting for their relationship, and Greta confessed that she’s “in shock with myself that I let [him] go” — Greta sat down with Swooon to break down the most shocking moment of the season so far. She also let us in on what happened off-camera the morning before their devastating conversation.

After Greta told Matthew that they would be better off apart, he explained to viewers that her confession came without warning. Greta revealed to Swooon that she remembers that day a little differently.
“I’m confused because I remember the morning I did end it on camera,” Greta began. “We had a long conversation that morning off camera where I told him I was not in love with him anymore, and that I did believe he would be happier with someone else. I did wish him happiness. I wished him to have, like that partner, and that family, and that stability in the house, and everything that he’s always wanted. I was quite unsure if that person was me.”
Looking back on that off-camera conversation, Greta admitted, “I felt like I had basically said everything you would say when you end a relationship without officially ending it.” According to the 90 Day star, she didn’t want to break up twice, so she explained how she felt off-camera to warn him and then left the official ending of the engagement for later in the day when they were set to film.
“I did feel like it was quite the warning that something was about to happen,” she told Swooon. “And we were, like, crying on the floor together, like hugging each other. And I felt like there was kind of this deep-seated understanding between us about what was about to happen.”
That being said, she admitted, “I wasn’t clear enough, and I do feel sad that it was such a shock to him, and I can definitely see why it would be.”
