Will There Be a ’10DANCE 2′? What We Know About the Future of Netflix’s Ballroom Romance Movie
In more ways than one, ballroom expert Sugiki (Keita Machida) has finally found his perfect partner in Latin dancer Suzuki (Ryoma Takeuchi). In Netflix’s gay romance movie 10DANCE, Sugiki and Suzuki go from rivals to allies, helping each other master their respective dance styles. As they train for the rigorous 10Dance competition, they discover a fiery chemistry on and off the dance floor.
The Japanese manga adaptation, however, doesn’t even manage to get its characters to the titular competition by the end, so Swooon is right there with you if you’re wondering if Sugiki and Suzuki have a future. Will 10DANCE have a sequel?
Sorry to disappoint, but we don’t know yet if Sugiki and Suzuki will take the dance floor again, even though there is quite a lot of story left to adapt from the manga it’s based on. (More on that below.) We’ll update this page if Netflix announces a 10DANCE sequel.
How does 10DANCE end?
Though their feelings for each other do emerge over time, Sugiki and Suzuki clash quite a bit. Even after they give in to their passion and kiss, their budding relationship spirals at the World Championship. When Sugiki loses unfairly, Suzuki encourages him to vent, but the ballroom expert fears losing control and pushes Suzuki away.
Skipping six months ahead, 10DANCE ends with the Asian Cup Dance Championship. Sugiki and Suzuki are both competing with their respective partners, Fusako and Aki. The two women partner up to perform in the closing ceremony, so Sugiki asks Suzuki to dance with him. The former finds the love and passion that’s been missing from his dancing when he has Suzuki by his side. When it’s over, they kiss and Sugiki says he’ll see Suzuki at 10Dance, where they’ll be opponents rather than partners.
What would 10DANCE 2 be about?
The movie doesn’t cover the entirety of the 10DANCE manga, which is still ongoing, so we wouldn’t rule out a sequel entirely. A potential sequel would likely continue Sugiki and Suzuki’s journey toward the 10Dance competition, though it likely won’t be an easy road for them romantically. The manga’s sixth volume has them restart their lessons after they part ways, and the next picks up with them dealing with a breakup. The blurb of the eighth volume, which comes out in March 2026, hasn’t been released yet.
