Chantel and Ashley got engaged on December 17, but waited six days to publicly announce that they are going to tie the knot. The couple told People, “Our love feels like it was written in the stars. So romantic, so authentic, so raw. We love that about ourselves. How did Chantel and Ashley meet?

During an exclusive interview with Swooon, Chantel revealed that she met Ashley through her brother, River Everett. Chantel explained, “Ashley was actually friends with my brother first, and then became friends with the entire family.” Chantel continued to share that she and Ashley met at a party and became very close, very quickly.

“I remember asking one of my friends one time, I was just wondering, like, ‘Do you think Ashley likes me?’ And they’re like, ‘Oh no, no, she doesn’t like you. She’s just being a really good friend.’ But hindsight’s 20/20? She had romantic feelings for me,” Chantel said.

Did Chantel kiss Ashley before she left for Hunt for Love?

Fans may remember that Chantel first mentioned Ashley during Hunt for Love as the woman who kissed her before she left for the show. Chantel exclusively revealed to Swooon that she had originally pulled away from Ashley’s first kiss. She explained, “I intentionally pulled away. I didn’t want to kiss one of my friends because I didn’t know if I liked her. I liked her for sure, like as a friend, and I had something between us that I didn’t understand. I didn’t want to progress that confusion by kissing her. I wanted to sort of process and work through what she had just told me before doing that, but then she kissed me, and then I liked it, so I had even more to think about.”

According to the 90 Day star, that was the last time she saw Ashley before calling her from the Hunt for Love resort. “I thought that it was a good kiss,” she revealed to Swooon, “And I was questioning things to the point where I asked her to leave. I said, ‘Okay, I think you should go because I need some space.’ And she left, all the way back to Alabama. That was the last time I saw Ashley before I went to Hunt for Love.”

When did Chantel and Ashley start dating?

According to Chantel, she and Ashley started dating right after she left Hunt for Love. Chantel told Swooon, “We hit it off, obviously. And I feel like what we have built is very healthy. So it feels good to be in a committed relationship with somebody who I feel safe with.”

During our September interview, Chantel shared her hopes for their future together, and with the 90 Day franchise, sharing, “Hopefully, Ashley and I just continue to grow our relationship and progress, and who knows? Maybe you’ll be seeing more of us. I definitely have grown a lot on all the 90 Day shows, and it is something that I would be open to doing again.”
