Are Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher still married?
Yes, Underwood and Fisher are still married. While they mostly keep their relationship off social media, Fisher supported Underwood at the 2025 finale of American Idol. They also walked the red carpet together at the Opry 100 Celebration two months earlier.
How did Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher meet?
Underwood and Fisher met through her bass player, Mike Childers, who had met the hockey player through a mutual friend. “He wanted to meet Carrie behind the stage at The Opry,” Childers recalled on The Howard Stern Show. “I didn’t allow it. I was like, ‘I don’t know who he is.'”
But after Fisher “kept trying” for “about a year” to meet the country singer, Childers set up the meeting at one of Underwood’s concert meet and greets. After that initial meeting in October 2008, they talked on the phone for three months before going on their first date.
“It kind of laid some foundation,” Underwood explained. “[The first date] was New Year’s Eve and it was a team party. I invited myself to the team party. He moved slow.” They also had their first kiss that night.
Just under a year later, Fisher proposed in December 2009. They tied the knot on July 10, 2010, in Georgia.

“I’d kind of planned that 2017 was, you know, going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby,” Underwood said on CBS Sunday Morning. “We got pregnant early 2017, and didn’t work out.” She then had another miscarriage later that year and a third in 2018.
“I had always been afraid to be angry,” Underwood admitted. “Because we are so blessed. And my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world. And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s OK, because he’s amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No.”
Underwood thought she was miscarrying again while pregnant with Jacob, but a doctor’s appointment confirmed everything was OK.
In April 2019, Underwood admitted she wasn’t sure if she and Fisher would have more kids, noting that she was choosing to “live in the moment,” rather than planning out the future. The previous year, she told Redbook, “We always talk about adoption and about doing it when our child or children are a little older.”
