The end of 2025 is finally here, and it’s safe to say we’re getting a little emotional. Here at Swooon, 2025 marks our first full year of content after our launch in October 2024, and we could not be more grateful for all the romance lovers who have laughed, cried, and yearned with us this year, from XO, Kitty in January to Heated Rivalry in December.
We’re sure you’ve seen all of the TikToks using the ever-so catchy audio, “Come on, Superman, say your stupid line,” and while we haven’t made one (yet), we already know that our catchphrase in every interview, on every red carpet, and convo around the office is “What makes you swoon?” We can’t help it! We love love. That’s why we’re wrapping up the year by looking back at what made our favorite stars from TV, movies, Broadway, and more swoon this year!
In the video above, celebrities from Freaky Friday star Jamie Lee Curtis to 9-1-1 star Oliver Stark share what makes them feel the love. It’s clear that everyone’s outlook on love is different, so there is no right or best response. That being said, here are a few of our favorites.
It’s clear that John Cena just wants to “feel heard.” He told Swooon, “Being present’s really cool.” Milo Manheim, on the other hand, looked at how someone treats others. He explained he gets butterflies “when people are like really nice for no reason.” Fellow DCOM star, Sofia Carson, revealed to Swooon that she swoons “when someone surprises you in a thoughtful way, something that feels very you.”
Stars also pointed towards swoonworthy films like Singin’ in the Rain (Brett Goldstein) and Sinners (Jamie Lee Curtis). Jordan Fisher, always the romance reader, told Swooon, “There’s a handful of tropes,” pointing to enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and unplanned pregnancy as three of his faves. Lacey Chabert also noted that what makes her swoon has shifted over time. She was among the stars who looked for small things like doing dishes, the laundry, and other chores around the house as swoonworthy actions.
