Nearly 15 years after a cheating scandal rocked Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver‘s marriage, the former couple proved they’re on amicable terms by spending time together during the 2025 holiday season.
Earlier this month, the pair’s daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger, celebrated her 36th birthday and had a cozy celebration with her loved ones. On December 24, Katherine posted a photo dump from the past month, and one image showed her posing with her mom and dad while celebrating her big day.
Arnold and Maria, who share four children, were married for 25 years when they separated in 2011. Shortly after they announced their split, Arnold confirmed that he had fathered a child, Joseph Baena, with the family’s housekeeper in 1997. The exes’ divorce was not finalized until December 2021, as they had no prenup and various assets to divide.
In September, Arnold spoke at Chris Wallace‘s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony and made a joke about the divorce settlement. “I’ve been interviewed, you can imagine, in my lifetime, by thousands and thousands of journalists,” he said. “Not only that, I also was married to a journalist. The only difference between Chris and Maria is that Chris has never taken half of my money.”
The comment was made in jest, though, as Arnold and Maria remain amicable. “We laugh a lot about our kids, our grandkids, ourselves, and we are proud of the fact that we are still in conversation. For almost 50 years!” Maria told People earlier this year.
Arnold made a similar comment to The Hollywood Reporter in 2023. “She and I are really good friends and very close,” he confirmed. “And we are very proud of the way we raised our kids.”
However, Maria has not shied away from revealing how she felt at the time she discovered the affair. “As I sat on the hotel room floor in the dark, terrified and alone with tears streaming down my face, I thought to myself: Maria, this doesn’t have to be the end of the you,” she wrote in her book I Am Maria. “It can’t be the end of you. Make it a new beginning of you.”
