Iam Tongi has a lot to celebrate this holiday season! On Saturday, December 27, the American Idol winner announced that he is engaged to his girlfriend, Leah.
The pair shared the news in a joint post on Instagram, which featured photos from the proposal, as well as close-up shots of Leah’s engagement ring.
“I’m officially a fiancée 🙂↔️ Leah Tongi… now I love the sound of that ☺️,” Leah captioned the photo dump. The first image showed her holding Iam’s hand with her brand new diamond on full display. In the next pic, Iam is down on one knee popping the question. He appears to have asked Leah to marry him in front of a backyard fire.
Iam shared a second post with a similar set of photos, captioned, “Forever ❤️.”

On December 3, Iam and Leah celebrated their two-year anniversary of dating. “I’ve been counting down the days to say this lol … HAPPY ANNIVERSARY myhandsomeeee 😍🥰❤️ being with you for 2 years has taught me soooo much,” Leah wrote on Instagram. “you’ve made me a better person and you continue to help me be the best version of myself. You’ve taught me patience , kindness even to those that have hurt me , and to love even when times get rough. You’ve helped me see the world and people in a beautiful way , you’ve helped me forgive , and to let go even though I have all the right to feel the way I feel. Thank you for loving me and for choosing me everyday.”
The pair’s relationship began just months after Iam won Season 21 of American Idol in May 2023. Since his time on the show, Iam has been continuing to pursue his music career, which means that he and Leah often have to spend time apart while he’s playing shows.
Unfortunately, they were not able to spend their anniversary together, but Leah revealed in a December 13 post that she was able to attend a show in Canada during Iam’s Christmas tour. They also spent the holiday together, with Iam sharing a series of selfies from their Christmas celebration.
