Hearties fans rejoiced upon hearing the news of Lori Loughlin‘s return as Abigail Stanton in When Calls the Heart Season 14. After seven years, Abigail will finally be coming home to Hope Valley.
With Abigail stepping back into the picture, could the long-simmering connection between Abigail and Henry (Martin Cummins) turn into something romantic? When Calls the Heart has the opportunity to finally explore that relationship when Abigail returns. (In our opinion, Abigail and Henry should at least give it a shot.)
Despite a complicated beginning, Abigail and Henry developed a deep connection over the years. Before they could figure out what to do about their feelings for each other, Abigail left Hope Valley to care for her mother. Since then, Henry hasn’t courted anyone in town, and we haven’t heard anything about Abigail’s love life either. Have they been holding out for each other? Only time will tell!
When Swooon spoke with Erin Krakow, she was thrilled about Abigail’s return. Naturally, we brought up Henry, and Krakow said of their upcoming reunion, ” I mean, certainly, we hear Henry Gowen talking about her from time to time. I cannot wait to see that.”
She continued, “I’m very invested as an actor and an executive producer on the show, but I’m also incredibly invested as a viewer. There are certain storylines that I am just chomping at the proverbial bit for. Henry and Abigail is one of them.”
Season 13 is just now kicking off, so we could get updates about Henry and Abigail’s love lives this season. There’s still an entire season to go, and so much could change between now and Abigail’s return next season. If Henry and Abigail do pursue a romantic relationship when the time comes, this happily ever after would be the ultimate slow burn — and well worth the wait.
