Tony Dokoupil is settling in to his new gig as the anchor of CBS Evening News, having taken over on the weekday broadcast after John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois‘ departures at the end of 2025.

When he’s not at the newsdesk, Dokoupil is building a life with his wife, Katy Tur, a fellow journalist whom he’s been married to since 2017. Scroll down to learn about their relationship, family, and more.

Who is Tony Dokoupil’s wife?

Tur is a journalist who currently works as a correspondent for MS NOW (formerly MSNBC). She has been anchoring the network’s daytime news coverage since 2017, with her program receiving the title Katy Tur Reports in 2021.

Tur first joined NBC News in 2009 as part of a local station in New York City, but eventually rose up the ranks to working for the network at a national level.

How did Tony Dokoupil and Katy Tur meet?

Tur and Dokoupil met in 2016. At the time, they were both working for MS NOW, and Tur noticed Dokoupil onscreen while she was in her makeup chair and he was filming a segment.

“I’m not very polite, so I said, ‘Who the f**k is that? Does he work here? How come I don’t know who he is?’” Tur recalled to Esquire. “The makeup artists all chimed in and said, ‘That’s Tony, we’ve all got a big crush on him.’”

The two were then introduced, as Dokoupil explained, “It didn’t occur to me until midnight that night in my crappy apartment drinking a whiskey, where I was like, ‘That was weird that they introduced me to her because that never happens. Maybe I have a shot here.'”

They began dating long-distance as Tur covered Donald Trump‘s 2016 presidential campaign, and Dokoupil transitioned from MS NOW to CBS News. They eloped in October 2017.

Does Tony Dokoupil have kids?

Yes, Dokoupil is a father to four children. With Tur, he has two kids: a son, Teddy, born in April 2019, and a daughter, Eloise, born in May 2021. He also has two children from a previous relationship, but they currently live in Israel.

After Dokoupil and Tur welcomed Eloise, he got a vasectomy.

“About a year ago, after we more or less decided no more kids, @katyturnbc got me thinking about the ways she’s had to carry the weight of prevention all our years together — and basically all her life, same as most women, the way things go right now — and she kindly reminded me of all the side effects attached to the available methods, side effects I as a man hadn’t ever really considered, because I never experienced them, not to mention the major worry of another pregnancy and what that might mean for her health and her body after two difficult deliveries,” Dokoupil explained, adding that his wife was the one who suggested he have the procedure.

He said he “delayed” and “argued” at first, but eventually went through with it in December 2022 after chatting with other men who’d already had vasectomies. He said the procedure was “easy” and “fine,” as his friends had assured him it would be.

“So, yeah, this is a mini PSA for guys who are where I was a year ago,” Dokoupil concluded. “And one more thing: I don’t really know how to make this announcement something other than self serving. Just suggesting that maybe you talk to your wife or girlfriend about how you can take the burden off her. Everyone will be better for it.”

Who was Tony Dokoupil’s first wife?

Dokoupil’s first wife was Danielle Haas. She filed for divorce in August 2015, per public records. Haas lives in Israel with the two kids she and Dokoupil share.
