Ali Wong and Bill Hader have called it quits. Three years after they were first linked romantically, the couple has ended their relationship, according to People.
Reps for the stars did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment, but a source confirmed the breakup and noted that things are “amicable” between the former couple. “They are very much friends and still in touch.”

Wong and Hader split because it had become increasingly difficult for them to find time to spend together amid their busy schedules and family obligations, according to People’s source.
“It was too difficult to make the relationship work with Ali’s upcoming stand-up tour and Bill’s various film and TV projects this year,” the insider explained. Wong’s tour kicks off on January 16 and runs through the spring, concluding on May 16 in St. Louis, Missouri.
In addition to their busy work schedules, Wong and Hader both have children from previous relationships to keep them busy. Hader is a father to three daughters, whom he shares with ex-wife Maggie Carey, while Wong has two daughters with ex-husband Justin Hakuta.
“They’re focusing on their work and kids, while continuing to support and root for each other,” the source noted.
When did Bill Hader and Ali Wong start dating?
Wong and Hader’s relationship began in the fall of 2022. They briefly dated, but broke up by December of that year. They rekindled their romance in April 2023, which they confirmed by kissing while out in public that month.
Prior to Hader and Wong’s fall 2022 relationship, the Beef star and Hakuta separated in April 2022 after eight years of marriage. Two months later, Hader ended his two-year romance with Anna Kendrick.
How did Bill Hader and Ali Wong meet?
Hader and Wong actually first worked together back in 2016. They both voiced characters in The Angry Birds Movie. They also ran in similar circles and had attended dinner parties together over the years.
However, it wasn’t until Hader found out that Wong had separated from her husband that he made a move.
“I get a phone call from this guy who I met at a dinner party in the past, and he got my number from a mutual friend,” Wong said in her 2024 Netflix special, Ali Wong: Single Lady. “He was like, ‘Hey, I just happened to hear the news about your divorce, and I’ve had a crush on you forever. I actually told my best friend years ago that you were my dream girl, and I know it sounds crazy, but I want you to be my girlfriend.’”
At the time, Wong had just signed up for a dating app, she revealed. “I was like, ‘I just paid $25. You seem really nice, but I gotta get my money’s worth,'” she joked. Hader continued to pursue her by sending flowers to all of her hotel rooms on a European vacation she was taking, and she ultimately gave him a shot.
