Who Is ‘RHOBH’ Star Erika Jayne’s Boyfriend? Her New Romance With John ‘Shrek’ McPhee

During summer 2025, Erika Jayne turned heads when she stepped out holding hands with a mystery man. It was a rare sighting, as Jayne has been single since filing for divorce from Tom Girardi in 2020.

Since then, the man in the photos has been identified as John “Shrek” McPhee. He is the same age as Jayne (54), and they’ve been seeing each other ever since. At the time the photos were taken, though, things were still very new in the relationship.

“I met someone, and we went out on two dates, and then we went to get a manicure-pedicure,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star said on her Diamonds in the Rough podcast in July 2025. She also admitted that she didn’t know the photos were being taken, adding, “What was a nice, private moment and a nice, private thing I was having for myself was ruined.”

Still, she described her time with McPhee, whom she said is a “nice man,” as “really nice” and said she felt “comfortable” holding his hand in public. “I enjoy my time with him,” she confirmed.

What does John ‘Shrek’ McPhee do for a living?

McPhee works as a member of Heidi Montag‘s private security team. He has a close relationship with Montag and her family, and is even the godfather of her eldest son, Gunner.

Prior to working in private security, McPhee was in the Army, retiring in 2011. He was a U.S. Army Special Operations Sergeant Major.

McPhee has since created a company called Sheriff of Baghdad “to extend his expertise to civilians, law enforcement, and militaries worldwide.” In addition to selling merchandise and apparel, the company also offers video diagnostics training in special shooting.

How did Erika Jayne meet her boyfriend?

Jayne met McPhee at a concert in London. She was performing after Montag at the festival and introduced herself to McPhee after previously seeing him on a podcast.

“It’s really interesting,” she said. “I saw him on a friend of mine’s podcast because I watch everybody’s podcast late at night before I go to bed. I saw him on a friend of mine’s podcast and I thought, ‘Wow, that’s an interesting interview.'”

When she saw McPhee backstage, she “walked up” and introduced herself. “I was like, ‘Hey, my name is Erika and I’ve seen a couple podcasts. I’m a fan.'”

During a December 2025 interview, Jayne confirmed that she and McPhee had been dating for six months, which means their relationship began in June 2025.

Is Erika Jayne divorced?

No, Jayne is still not technically divorced from Girardi. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia in 2021, and as Jayne explained on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in December 2025, “It’s very difficult to get someone who’s incompetent to divorce … I have to ask the conservator. It’s just not that easy.”

Girardi’s conservator is his brother, Robert. Jayne’s estranged husband was sentenced to seven years in prison in June 2025 after being convicted of four counts of wire fraud the previous year.

Will Erika Jayne’s boyfriend be on RHOBH?

So far, Jayne has no plans to feature her boyfriend on the Bravo reality show (although he did show up in the Season 15 trailer via FaceTime).

As of December 2025, none of Jayne’s fellow cast members had even met him. “No one’s met him, and I kind of like it like that because I like him, and I know how bad these things are for your relationship,” she told Us Weekly. “Like, I’ve gone through too much on this. Like, I think I need, you know, I would like to keep that relationship special and over here if I could.”

She also confirmed that McPhee has “never seen the show” and doesn’t “know anything about it.”
