What To Know

  • Mark Rober is known for his science content on YouTube and Netflix’s CrunchLabs.
  • He largely keeps his personal life private, though he has offered rare details about his family

Mark Rober has documented his science experiments and more on YouTube for over a decade. He stepped further into the spotlight this year with his new Netflix show, Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs. The former NASA engineer has teamed up with Jimmy Kimmel’s production company to turn his videos into a Kids and Family competition series for the streamer, further growing his audience.

A portion of Rober’s millions of social media followers might feel like they know him at this point, having seen him do everything from filling a swimming pool with jello to pranking people with glitter bombs, but the educator intentionally keeps his personal life off-camera. That includes his family, though they have occasionally made appearances on his social media. So, is the CrunchLabs star married or dating? Swooon has the latest updates on Rober’s relationship status below.

Is Mark Rober married?

Rober sticks to science and the facts in the majority of his videos, though he has offered a few personal details over the years. In 2024, he took to X to ask the dating app Hinge why he kept being flagged as an impersonator. In the comments below, Rober revealed that he’d divorced years prior. “For the sake of clarity, I generally keep my personal life pretty private for my own protection and those close to me,” he explained. “But yeah it’s been 3.5 years since the divorce where I haven’t worn a wedding ring in any videos.”

Rober hasn’t confirmed a romance publicly since then, though he was photographed holding hands with someone in August 2025, as he was arriving to film a Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance. She was identified her as Lauren Abney, a Google employee and co-creator and co-host of the podcast Well/Behaved, per her LinkedIn.

Who is Mark Rober’s ex-wife?

In summer 2021, Y Magazine identified his then-wife as Lisa Earl Rober, who graduated from Brigham Young University two years before her future husband. Not much is known about when they met or married, though several outlets report that they tied the knot in 2015.

In that same interview, Rober offered rare details about their relationship. Back when he was starting out, Rober made a video of himself crafting a shower-hair portrait to surprise his wife. He explained, “I generally don’t prank her. I’ve learned better.” She also preferred not to be included in his videos, according to Y Magazine, though she does appear in a small capacity on Robert’s Instagram.

Does Mark Rober have kids?

Rober and his ex do share a son, who also largely remained out of the spotlight until Rober’s 2021 YouTube video “The Truth about my Son.” He noted that his son might be a surprise to viewers, since he hadn’t appeared on camera in the past eight years of Rober’s videos.

“The reason I’m so protective of him is because he has special needs,” Rober says in the video. “He’s on the autistic spectrum, and this is the internet. So even as I make this video, I’m incredibly terrified, but this is something that my wife and I feel really strongly about.”

The creator and Kimmel were hosting a live stream fundraiser for individuals on the spectrum transitioning into adulthood.

Since then, Rober has offered more glimpses into his personal life. For one, in 2022, he shared a sweet anecdote about his son and actor Dax Shepard on Instagram: “If you’re wondering what kind of human @daxshepard is here’s a story. My 16 year old son, who has autism, made a bunch of bracelets for various friends this summer on vacation. Fast forward 4 months later to find out Dax hasn’t taken his off 🥲.”
