‘The Pitt’: Are Garcia & Santos Together? What We Know About Their Relationship in Season 2
[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for The Pitt Season 2 premiere, “7:00 a.m.”]
Almost right from the jump, The Pitt Season 2 puts wind in the Garsantos sails. Despite having few interactions in the grand scheme of Season 1, Dr. Yolanda Garcia (Alexandra Metz) and first-year resident Dr. Trinity Santos (Isa Briones) emerged as a fan-favorite pairing early on.
During their first shift together, Garcia and Santos’ flirty, mentor-mentee dynamic took a bad turn when all of the Langdon (Patrick Ball) drama came to light, but it looks like things are going well between them at the start of Season 2. “This is 10 months later, so clearly things have transpired,” Briones says in TV Insider’s The Pitt Aftershow. “They are seeing each other regularly, but you’re still not, as an audience, quite sure what their relationship is.”
When it comes to the characters’ lives outside of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center walls, The Pitt is all about sharing those details subtly — though Episode 1 dropped some major hints at Garcia and Santos’ relationship status. So, Swooon is keeping track of all of the latest Garsantos developments in Season 2. Check below for more insights from Briones and weekly updates from yours truly.
Are Garcia and Santos together in The Pitt?
As of Episode 1, whether Garcia and Santos are officially girlfriends or not remains to be seen. They didn’t even interact face-to-face, though a conversation between Garcia and Dr. Whitaker (Gerran Howell) revealed that they are much more familiar than they used to be — and not just because they’ve been working together for 10 months.
As they’re dealing with a case, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) remarks that Garcia has a tough time expressing her feelings. Whitaker counters, “Not all of them.” (We raised our eyebrows at that just like Shabana Azeez‘s Javadi does in the scene.)
The kicker, though, is Garcia’s quip. “What’s up, White Chocolate?” she greets Whitaker. “Did you know our farm boy here is a vintage-funk freak? Unfortunately, he also likes to use other people’s toothbrushes.”
“It was one time,” Whitaker responds.
That’s not an outright confirmation that Santos and Garcia are dating, but Garcia has definitely stayed over at the Santos-Whitaker residence. Remember, Whitaker and Santos become roomies by the end of Season 1.
“There’s flirtation, and they clearly spend the night; there’s toothbrushes at each other’s places,” Briones told TV Insider. “But I think you kind of start to see — I think maybe fans who have been shipping this maybe want to see like, oh my God, they’re so cute together. But that’s not necessarily what you’re going to get.”

She continued, “This is like a lot of workplace relationships that we know, where it’s a little awkward and maybe one person likes the other a little more than the other does, maybe one person wants more than the other does, and the lines are not fully defined.”
Do you think that could mean Santos is ready to go all in, while Garcia isn’t? Or maybe it’s the opposite? Only time will tell, but check back here for Garsantos news every week. Let us know your predictions and thoughts in the comments section below!
