Since Bringing Up Bates went off the air in 2022, Katie Bates and husband Travis Clark have been sharing updates about their family on social media. On January 17, Travis revealed that he had cheated on his wife, one day after she opened up about experiencing pregnancy loss.

“This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology,” Travis wrote via Instagram Stories. “I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don’t begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I’ve brought into her life, but I am truly sorry.”

Are Katie Bates and Travis Clark still together?

The couple are still together, after Katie addressed her husband’s infidelity in a January 20 Instagram post. “As many now know, our marriage has been deeply hurt and my trust has been broken,” she wrote. “We are working through this privately, seeking counsel both together and individually as we try to determine the best path forward for our family. I am also being supported by legal counsel. This is not a quick or easy process, and it is not one I am taking lightly.”

She continued, “Every decision about our future will be made slowly and carefully, with what is best for our family and our children as the highest priority. At the same time, I do believe in God’s power to restore, and my heart’s desire is to preserve our marriage.”

In Travis’ Instagram Story, which was screenshotted by People, he apologized to his wife directly for “the pain, humiliation, and betrayal [he] caused [his] wife through [his] choices.”

He added, “I understand that an apology doesn’t repair what I broke, and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for. I am taking responsibility by getting help and doing the work to change and become a more honest and accountable man, regardless of outcome.” He concluded by asking the public to give his wife “privacy and grace” as she processed what had happened.

Prior to Travis’s admission, Katie’s latest social media post came on January 16, when she shared a video of herself finding out she was pregnant with their third child and setting up a surprise for her husband to reveal the news. The latter half of the video showed clips of Katie crying in a hospital bed, holding someone’s hand while she said, “I just lost my baby.” She wrote in the caption, “I will spend the rest of my life missing you.”

How long have Katie Bates and Travis Clark been together?

Katie, one of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ 19 children, met Travis through mutual friends in 2019. They began courting the next year. “Travis and his family are active in their local church and also travel together to sing, so our families have been able to visit at nearby concerts and church events,” Katie told Us Weekly in March 2020. “Travis and I are so thankful that the Lord, not only allowed our paths to cross, but that we have been able to begin this new phase of our journey together.”

They got engaged in April 2021 and made it official a few months later in December. They started growing their family in February 2023, with the birth of their first child. After daughter Hailey James came along, the couple welcomed son Harvey Gray in September 2024.

Earlier that year, Bates and Clark moved from New Jersey to Tennessee, sharing the life change on Instagram. The Bates Family blog explained that they chose the new location for Travis’ music career. “Our house hunting journey had its ups and downs, with moments of hope and disappointment, but God had the perfect home waiting for us in His perfect timing!” Katie shared on social media. “We can’t wait to raise our little ones here and create countless memories in this beautiful place! Here’s to new beginnings and a lifetime of adventures!”

In June 2025, Katie said that her husband had enrolled in nursing school. “Since this all started last year, I’ve watched him work so hard, stay focused, keep writing and recording music, and pour himself into this new path all while still showing up for me and the kids in the most meaningful ways,” she wrote on Instagram. “This decision came with a lot of thought and prayer, and we’re confident it’s the right step for our family and we’re so excited for what’s ahead.”
