Creator Jacob Tierney will always keep Ilya (Connor Storrie) and Shane’s (Hudson Williams) relationship at the center of Heated Rivalry, but where does that leave the show’s other couple going forward?

Scott (François Arnaud) and Kip (Robbie G.K.) got their time to shine in Season 1, their story overlapping with Shane and Ilya’s like it does in author Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series. After a temporary breakup, Scott and Kip get their happy ending in the show, getting back together when Scott comes out publicly. It more or less lines up with the ending of Reid’s book about Scott and Kip, Game Changer.

During a January 19 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Arnaud addressed his character’s future head-on, after a fan asked whether Scott and Kip’s journey would continue in Season 2 or in a spinoff show. Swooon is breaking down everything we know about the rumored spinoff below.

Will there be a Scott and Kip Heated Rivalry spinoff?

“I’m hearing all sorts of things,” Arnaud replied to the fan. “For sure, you will see more of them. Whether in the main show or in a spinoff, that remains to be… I’m as anxious as you to know.”

The actor first brought up a potential spinoff in December 2025. “I heard, like, months ago, before the show even came out, that the producers were interested in a potential spinoff, so who knows?” Arnaud told Glamour. “I don’t know if it’s now. I don’t know if it’s Season 2. I don’t know if it’s Season 3.”

We also know that Tierney is interested in exploring the other couples in the Game Changers universe, which consists of six books. After doubling down that Shane and Ilya will always be the focus of Heated Rivalry show, he added, “Which is not to say that we can’t do other things within this universe, absolutely. And I’m very excited to explore a lot of those options, but Heated Rivalry will always be based on Shane and Ilya’s relationship as a center.”

What would happen in a Scott and Kip spinoff?

[Warning: The following contains spoilers from Rachel Reid’s Common Goal and The Long Game.]

Scott and Kip don’t disappear after the events of their book unfold, as readers well know. Their book comes first chronologically, but they both either make cameos or play significant roles in Reid’s Common Goal, Role Model, and The Long Game.

Scott and Kip are most heavily involved in Common Goal — which is about Eric and Kyle, who you can read all about in Swooon‘s Game Changers relationship guide — so we suppose a potential spinoff could involve the events of that book, too. Scott is Eric’s teammate and close friend, and the former supports the latter when he comes out as bisexual.

Kip is not only Kyle’s close friend but also his crush, so Kyle spends a portion of the book trying to get over him. Scott and Kip are engaged and helplessly in love throughout Common Goal, eventually getting married. Scott also becomes an owner of the Kingfisher bar, which show fans will remember is featured heavily in Episode 3, and he becomes an advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusivity in the hockey world. He remains the captain of the New York Admirals.

Arnaud and G.K. told Swooon about their own ideas for their characters’ futures. “I think that there could be a world in which, after all this dies down, real life sets in, and things are difficult,” G.K. said. “I think that there’s a lot of bridges to cross where it’s, like, the reality. It’s one thing for Scott to have this one moment of, ‘You know what? I’m going to do this,’ but there’s so much more that I’m sure happens in his life, happens in Kip’s life, all these things that will essentially explode after this one particular moment.”

Will Scott and Kip be in Heated Rivalry Season 2?

The actors and the creator haven’t yet confirmed if Scott and Kip will appear in Season 2. However, Scott does show up in The Long Game, the direct sequel to Heated Rivalry, most significantly to support Shane and Ilya after they’re accidentally outed. Tierney has confirmed he’s basing Season 2 on that book, so we’ll have to wait and see if that scene makes it into the show.
