“To get to shoot a love story in the streets of Paris is about as good as it gets,” Olly Atkins told Swooon, looking back at filming the Season 1 ending of Finding Her Edge, with Madelyn Keys and Cale Ambrozic, who play Adriana and Brayden.

While Atkins’ character, Freddie, ultimately won Adriana’s heart (for now!) in the City of Love, there was a rude awakening for the newly minted couple once they got back to Russo Rink, now owned by Voltage. After Brayden and Adriana’s fake relationship took them all the way to gold at Worlds, Adriana’s romantic reunion with Freddie proved to be too much for Brayden to bear, after his faux feelings melted into something real.

“The last scene that we filmed in the whole show was [Adriana and Freddie’s] carousel scene, which of course [Brayden] was also in,” Keys revealed to Swooon. This comment earned an “unfortunately” from Ambrozic, who couldn’t look back as fondly at the scene where his character’s heart got crushed. Laughing, Keys continued, “I think it was a really magical way to finish everything.”

If there’s one takeaway fans can get from the Season 1 finale of Finding Her Edge, it’s that “Brayden loves his revenge,” as Ambrozic put it. Not only does Brayden abandon Adriana minutes before their final performance, but once they return home, he takes on Riley (Millie Davis) as his new partner. “He knows what he’s doing with that, and I think it sets up a Season 2 really, really nicely.” We couldn’t agree more!

Of course, it’s not a total surprise that Riley, who skated with Freddie this season, would swap partners to get ahead. When Freddie tells her that Brayden and Adriana were faking their relationship the entire time, she told him that she wished she had thought of that idea. When asked if Brayden and Riley could enter a fake relationship of their own next season, Ambrozic told Swooon, “Hard to say. I mean… Tune in!”

On the other hand, Freddie and Adriana are embarking on a new path as partners both on and off the ice. While Ambrozic pointed out that Freddie and Adriana’s partnership didn’t work out so well the first time, Keys was quick to remind him, “Uh, hey, [Adriana’s] mom died!”

It’s clear that Keys, Ambrozic, and Atkins are all just as eager as we are for Finding Her Edge to get renewed for a second season. Beyond their new partnerships, Atkins teased, “There are so many wonderful things that we set up in Season 1. There are so many wonderful characters that we’ve put together.” He explained, “I love the drama, so the more torturous, the more fights you can have… The more you can put these characters through, the more fun I have.”

For her answer, Keys turned to “arguably an even more important love triangle.” This, of course, is between Adriana’s dad, Will (Harmon Walsh), their coach, Camille (Meredith Forlenza), and the sheriff, Michelle (Kimberly-Sue Murray). Keys gushed, “I loved how that played out in the first season.”
