‘Bridgerton’: All About Colin & Penelope’s Family Before Season 4
It was a rocky journey, but Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) got their happy ending in Bridgerton Season 3. Fans weren’t just treated to an angst-free, married Polin in the last few moments of the finale — they also got a glimpse of Polin as parents.
Though Season 4 will instead turn the focus toward Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie (Yerin Ha), we all know Colin and Penelope’s journey isn’t over. Based on Newton’s recent comments ahead of Season 4, Polin’s emotional turmoil seems to (hopefully) be a thing of the past. As Penelope navigates running her gossip column with her identity out in the open, Newton said that Colin is “living his absolute best life” and “enjoying that honeymoon period.”
We imagine that means we’ll see some Polin parenting, too, especially since Coughlan shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself holding little Elliot Bridgerton on the set of Season 4. Who is Lord Elliot Featherington?
Elliot is not just a Bridgerton, but also the next Lord Featherington. After Colin and Penelope marry, they welcome a son, the only male heir in the Featherington line. Remember, Penelope’s father (Ben Miller) was killed as a result of his gambling debts back in Season 1. Cousin Jack (Rupert Young) tried to swoop in as the heir afterward, but Colin exposed that he was a money swindler, once again leaving the Featheringtons without a lord of the house.
The end of Season 3 sees the Featheringtons family’s problems solved. Penelope’s sisters, Prudence (Bessie Carter) and Philippa (Harriet Cains), also give birth around the same time as Penelope, but they both have daughters. Since Elliot is the heir, Colin would likely help manage the Featherington estate until he comes of age, but we have yet to get confirmation of that development.

How many kids do Colin and Penelope have in the books?
The whole Featherington heir issue was created for the show, as was Elliot. About a year after Colin and Penelope married in 1824, they gave birth to their first child, Agatha. Thomas comes along the next year, followed by Jane in 1828 and George in 1831. Obviously, the show has already switched things up by swapping Agatha for Elliot, but is it possible another Polin baby will join the family in Season 4? Only time will tell.
