Is Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Sam Darnold Married? Inside His Love Life
Sam Darnold is officially a Super Bowl champion! After maintaining a lead against the New England Patriots the entire game, the Seattle Seahawks took the win during the 2026 Super Bowl.
Ahead of Super Bowl LX, Sam Darnold had been on five NFL teams since joining the league in 2018. After leading his team to beat the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Conference Championship, the quarterback made his way to the big game on Sunday, February 8.
While all of Washington (and beyond) was cheering on the QB, Darnold’s most important supporter during the game was his fiancée, Katie Hoofnagle, who has been cheering him on since 2023.
In a March 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Darnold gushed over the “support” he’s gotten from Hoofnagle, telling the outlet, “You know, the fact that she just understands it. She’s a former athlete herself, and just gets kind of the grind of everything. When I just want to chill, she’s very up for that, especially during the season.”
He also added, “She’s great. She’s always been my biggest supporter. And I love her, and I thank her for that all the time.”

What does Sam Darnold’s fiancée do for a living?
Per her LinkedIn, Hoofnagle is a marketing specialist at Renvio, a company that “serve[s] dialysis partners on their entire journey to deliver optimal care.” Renvio specializes in software for dialysis machines that assist patients with kidney issues. She started the remote job in 2024 as an account executive before taking on her new role in July 2025.
Prior to taking on the job at Renvio, Hoofnagle worked at Loan Pronto in Charlotte, North Carolina, for nearly four years. She started out as a loan officer assistant in August 2020, then became an account manager, and then a mortgage loan officer.
Hoofnagle graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, with a minor in nutrition and food services. She was on the club soccer team in college.
When is Sam Darnold getting married?
If the Seahawks hadn’t won the Super Bowl, Darnold and Hoofnagle would still have had a lot to celebrate in 2026. Their wedding date is set for April 3, per an online wedding registry.

The pair’s engagement will be less than a year, as Darnold popped the question in July 2025. They announced their engagement, which took place in California, in a joint Instagram post with the caption, “YES!!!!!”
How did Sam Darnold and Katie Hoofnagle meet?
It’s not entirely clear how Darnold and Hoofnagle met. Per her LinkedIn, she lived and worked in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 2020 to 2024. Darnold previously played for Charlotte’s football team, the Carolina Panthers, from 2021 to 2022, so it’s possible that they crossed paths during those years.
Darnold and Hoofnagle went Instagram official with their relationship in June 2023, so it seems plausible that they met during Darnold’s tenure in North Carolina. However, Sports Illustrated reported that they met after Darnold got traded to the San Francisco 49ers in March 2023, as Hoofnagle is from the Bay Area and grew up there.
Of her decision to move to Charlotte after college, instead of returning to northern California, Hoofnagle explained in a LinkedIn post, “I knew for me, going home to CA wasn’t going to provide me the personal growth that I needed. At the end of the day, there’s more to life than just my career and I knew I needed to dig my roots somewhere new.”
