Lisa, 52, arrived in Nigeria during Episode 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 8, where she met her 39-year-old now-fiancé, Daniel, for the first time in person. Before they could even leave the airport, Daniel instantly proposed to Lisa in front of a massive crowd. While Lisa said yes to the unexpected proposal, she confided in viewers, sharing, “I didn’t want him to propose to me right away… I said I would not be engaged to him until I came clean.”
Seeing as Lisa is technically still married to a woman, it’s clear there are some things that Daniel does not know about his future wife. As viewers know, the couple plans on asking Daniel’s uncle for his blessing in Episode 8, which is traditional in Igbo culture. Who is Daniel’s uncle?
It’s clear that Daniel’s uncle will be a key player in his and Lisa’s relationship. His uncle was at the airport when Daniel proposed to Lisa. During Episode 7, Daniel told Lisa, “Tomorrow, we have to pay him a visit.” According to Daniel, his uncle has to approve of their union. Since his uncle doesn’t know Lisa that well, Daniel told her to expect to answer some questions.

Why do Lisa and Daniel need his uncle’s blessing?
Daniel explained to viewers, “In my culture, you get blessing from your parents, but my dad is not well, so my uncle has to call my father and report back.” He explained to Lisa that the blessing to marry another person in Nigeria comes after the proposal, not before, as some do in America.
For the blessing, his uncle will have to see Lisa dressed in traditional Igbo attire, including a colorful wrapper over her hair. Daniel told viewers, “Igbo people, we have tradition, and if Lisa wants to marry me, she has to learn all this.”
What is Lisa hiding from Daniel?
Right now, viewers know that Lisa has “spent the last 21 years living as a lesbian.” At the same time, Daniel has only been told that Lisa hooked up with a woman once. Beyond that, Lisa accepted Daniel’s proposal even though she is still legally married to her ex-wife. Daniel also does not approve of Lisa’s vaping habit.
These appear to be issues for Daniel’s family, as the preview of Episode 8 shows Daniel’s uncle telling Lisa, “You are not an Igbo woman. I want to know you more.” He later asks, “Are you a practicing Christian?” and “Do you practice lesbianism?”
