When Carrie Underwood isn’t lighting up the stage or sitting behind the judges’ table at American Idol, she has another important role she’s filling at home in Tennessee: mom.

The country singer married former NHL player Mike Fisher in 2010. Five years later, they started a family when they welcomed their first child together.

How many kids does Carrie Underwood have?

Underwood and Fisher have two children. Their first son, Isaiah, was born on February 27, 2015, followed by second son Jacob on January 21, 2019.

As the boys have gotten older, they’ve started to pick up on the fact that their mom has a high-profile career. As Underwood revealed on the Today show in 2022, “Isaiah, who’s seven and a half, he’s becoming more aware that it’s not normal. He’ll go to school and someone will be like, ‘I saw your mom on TV last night.’ He’s just becoming more aware that his mom does something that’s not normal.”

For the most part, Underwood and Fisher keep their sons out of the public eye and rarely post them on social media.

Does Carrie Underwood’s son sing?

Yes, Underwood’s son, Isaiah, has followed in her footsteps as a singer. In 2020, the two teamed up for a holiday duet. They released a recorded version of the song “The Little Drummer Boy” as part of Underwood’s album My Gift.

“When we recorded, I was able to be in the booth with him and encourage him and try to remind him what words were coming up next, things like that,” the American Idol winner told People.

She also admitted to getting emotional when she heard a cut of the song with Isaiah’s vocals. “I was laughing, and I was crying, and it was just very overwhelming in a good way. It’s just very emotional,” she added.

How many miscarriages did Carrie Underwood have?

Underwood had three miscarriages between the births of of Jacob and Isaiah. She opened up about her fertility struggles during a September 2018 interview.

“I’d kind of planned that 2017 was, you know, going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby,” Underwood said on CBS Sunday Morning. “We got pregnant early 2017, and didn’t work out.” Another miscarriage followed later that year, followed by the third in early 2018.

“Of course you wonder if it’s you, what am I doing wrong, or what have I done wrong,” she told People. “I remember having conversations with Mike trying to make sense of it all.”

In her CBS interview, Underwood revealed that she thought she was miscarrying again while pregnant with Jacob, which led her to have a heart-to-heart with God. “I was like, ‘Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door or let me have a kid,'” she said.  “And for the first time, I feel like I actually I told God how I felt. And I feel, like, we’re supposed to do that. That was like a Saturday – and the Monday I went to the doctor to, like, confirm, another miscarriage. And they told me everything was great!”

But while she was dealing with her pregnancy losses, Underwood was also writing her album Cry Pretty. “Throughout the whole process, you know, I’m writing and, like, literally right after finding out that I would lose a baby, I’d have a writing session,” she shared. “I’d be like, ‘Let’s go. You know, I can’t just sit around thinking about this. Like, I wanna work, I wanna do this.'”
