The weather was bad, so we didn’t get a lot of outdoors and popping around time,” Underwood explained. “It was really cold and really rainy, and it just gave us time to get to know each other.”
Brown described the relationship as a “slow roll” in the beginning, but said things ramped up when Underwood began spending more time in Los Angeles. Underwood confirmed the relationship in December 2021.

“Sometimes it’s rude and disrespectful,” Brown pointed out. “And again, other times it isn’t. Some people don’t know. There are comments of like, ‘This child was ripped away from its mom.'” Underwood jumped in to add, “Not the truth.”
Brown continued, “We made Bishop because there was an egg donor who is a separate person from the incredible woman who carried him, who is our surrogate. And by the way, neither of them feels in their heart like he’s their child.” Underwood reiterated that Bishop “doesn’t have a mom,” but rather, has an egg donor.
Underwood and Brown also don’t know who the biological father of their child is. “We told our doctor to put the healthiest embryo in,” said in a May 2024 interview. “And then for the next [baby], switch the genetics.”

They went public with their romance that December, but had broken up by June 2017. In his 2020 book, Underwood revealed that Raisman ended things with him over FaceTime.

After spending the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic together at Randolph’s house, the former couple announced their split in May 2020. Four months later, Randolph filed a restraining order against her ex and accused him of stalking and harassment. Among her various claims was an allegation that Underwood put a tracker on her car, incessantly sent her text messages, and began showing up at her and her family members’ homes uninvited.
Underwood was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Randolph when the order was granted. By November 2020, the pair settled things privately, and Randolph dropped her restraining order.
“I think that was sort of a huge wake-up call. I’m sad that it even got to that point to where that had to be my wake-up call, and me affecting other people in my life was sort of the moment that I realized I had to come out,” Underwood said on his Netflix series Coming Out Colton in December 2021. “Obviously, I wish I would have had the courage to come out without having to be pushed.”
