‘Bridgerton’: Which Leading Man Does Jealousy Best? (POLL)

'Bridgerton's Simon, Anthony, Colin, and Benedict
Netflix

The jealousy trope is a classic for a reason, and Bridgerton knows that full well. The Regency drama’s leading men have all had to watch their love interest be wooed by other men at one point or another, cranking up the angst and forcing them to confront their feelings. There’s no question that Bridgerton handles these moments excellently — but we do wonder who you think did best, between Simon (Rége-Jean Page), Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), Colin (Luke Newton), and Benedict (Luke Thompson).

Admittedly, Benedict doesn’t have any history with Sophie (Yerin Ha) when he spots her at Season 4’s masquerade ball, but we’ll still count it. It’s a case of love at first sight, so his hackles immediately rise when she’s swarmed by suitors. Benedict’s jealousy causes him to rush in and lie about being next on Sophie’s dance card. He’s that serious already, and we love to see it.

Winding it back to Season 1, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) attracts quite a few suitors as the Diamond of the Season. Despite his insistence on denying his feelings for most of Season 1, it gets on Simon’s nerves. His best jealousy moments occur when Prince Friedrich (Freddie Stroma) comes into the picture. Remember that ball scene in Episode 3, when Daphne glides down the staircase and flirts with Prince, in full view of the Duke of Hastings? Delicious.

Jealous Anthony Bridgerton, you’ll always be famous, too. In Season 2, the Viscount’s moment comes when Kate (Simone Ashley) shows interest in Mr. Dorset (Sam Frenchum). Anthony is so hung up on Kate that he looks nearly homicidal when she takes a boat ride with her new suitor. Anthony even pushes Dorset aside to help Kate out of the boat, which, of course, leads to his tumble into the lake. He really was fooling no one (aside from Edwina, we suppose).

Last but not least, we have Colin in Season 3. He sets himself up to get jealous by offering to find Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) a husband. He’s so irked by Lord Debling’s (Sam Phillips) interest in Penelope that he can’t stop staring at the two across the ballroom in Episode 3. When Debling cuts for a dance, taking Penelope away from Colin? We ate that up. And who could forget that hearing of Debling’s imminent proposal is what drives him to confess his feelings?

It’s not an easy choice by any means, but we’re asking you to make it anyway in the poll below. Once you make your pick, tell us your reasoning in the comments!
