Garcelle Beauvais has cooked up a new romance when she returns as Ava in her new Lifetime movie, Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted 2 Love, but is it the real deal? Her charming and handsome new boyfriend, Ellis (Boris Kodjoe), checks all of her boxes, but she can’t seem to get Luke (Vaughn W. Hebron) out of her mind.
Ava soon finds herself torn between two men when Luke reenters her life after graduating from culinary school. Garcelle Beauvais and Boris Kodjoe spoke with Swooon about Ava and Ellis’ relationship and how Luke’s return changes everything in the sequel, which premieres on January 31.
“They have a great relationship. I think they’re on the same page,” Beauvais said about Ava and Ellis. Kodjoe quickly chimed in, “One of them is truthful and honest and open. One of them. The other, not so much.”
Beauvais admitted that Ellis is the perfect man on paper. “He’s kind. He’s handsome. He’s available. He’s vulnerable,” she listed. Kodjoe called Ellis a “great potential husband.”
But the heart wants what it wants. When Luke steps back into the picture, Ava’s feelings for him are reignited. “I think she thought her feelings for Luke had gone away with Luke, and she felt satisfied and safe with Ellis. And then meeting Luke again just started stirring up things,” Beauvais said.
Will Ava stay with Ellis or taking another chance on love with Luke? Only time will tell.
Beauvais revealed that she jumped at the opportunity to play Ava again after starring in 2024’s Tempted By Love. “I think what resonates with people is the fact that we kept her character real and having real issues and being a woman of a certain age, but yet open to new love, new experiences,” she explained.
