Yes, Zingas and Kolesnik are in a romantic relationship off the ice. They have been dating since 2022.
How did Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik meet?
Zingas and Kolesnik met in the fall of 2021 when coach Igor Shpilband introduced them and suggested they start skating together. As Kolesnik explained on the Blades and Banter podcast, he parted ways with his previous partner, Avonley Nguyen, in June 2020 and spent nearly two years searching for a new partner during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even though Zingas was a singles skater at the time, Shpilband saw the vision. The two “instantly clicked,” according to Kolesnik. “Ever since, it’s been great.” They made their official debut as a pair in 2022.
“From day one, I thought she was the perfect fit,” Kolesnik told A Divine Sport. “I knew she was a little bit inexperienced in ice dance, but she had all the qualities I needed. She was an amazing dancer, and I saw a lot of potential in her skating. From day one, I felt the connection.”
What happened between Vadym Kolesnik and Avonley Nguyen?
Kolesnik’s professional relationship with Nguyen ended in 2020 after they broke up and could no longer work together as a skating pair. Kolesnik and Nguyen were dating while skating together, and when their romance ended, they also stopped being partners on the ice.
Nguyen competed with Grigory Smirnov from 2o21 to 2022, but has since retired from ice skating.
