Paul McCartney’s Wives: All About His Love Nancy Shevell & Past Marriages
Paul McCartney said that watching the upcoming documentary Man on the Run was “like drowning,” but having his life play out onscreen did offer a highlight: seeing footage of his late wife, Linda.
The Prime Video movie charts McCartney’s journey post-Beatles split, when he formed a new band called Wings. After marrying McCartney, Linda Eastman became Wings’ keyboardist. Man on the Run, which premieres on February 27, covers the former couple’s life at home, too. It incorporates videos taken by Linda, who died of breast cancer.

Linda’s friend, Miki Antony, told the Observer, “She stayed with me when she first came to London … [She said] ‘Guess who I dated last night? … It was Paul McCartney, and we had this lovely evening.’ She said Paul really liked white rabbits, and the next day she … bought a white rabbit and sent it to him. That night, she told me, he rang her up and said, ‘Thank you so much for the white rabbit, would you like to come out for dinner again?’ That’s how I knew they’d started dating. The rest is history.”
They married in March 1969. “We were crazy,” McCartney told Many Years From Now author Barry Miles. “We had a big argument the night before we got married, and it was nearly called off. We were very up and down, quite funky compared to the eventual image of ‘Twenty-five years of married bliss! Aren’t they lucky for people in showbiz?’ But we are. You get this picture of us swanning along in a little rowboat, managing to avoid the white water, but we were right in the middle of that white water, man, so it’s even more miraculous that we made it. But we did.”
