Christian made his first appearance on Season 37, Survivor: David vs. Goliath, back in 2018. Since then, he has become a franchise staple, so it’s no surprise that the robotics scientist is back for In the Hands of the Fans. However, Christian made it clear during the Season 50 premiere that he isn’t just playing for himself this season. Now that Christian is married and has entered his new era of fatherhood, he told People, “I have to make this mean something.”

Is Christian Hubicki married?
Yes, Christian has returned to Survivor as a married man! Fans may remember Christian’s then-girlfriend, now-wife, Emily Hubicki, from the adorable loved ones visit during his time on David vs. Goliath. Around five years after their appearance on Survivor, the two tied the knot. Now, they’ve been married for three years. But that isn’t the only major change in Christian’s life since he was last seen on Survivor. Christian and Emily recently welcomed a baby boy!
When was Christian Hubicki’s son born?
During the premiere of Survivor 50, Christian revealed that he had a secret weapon coming into the game: His son. Since his son was born just six weeks before he flew out to Fiji to film the season, Christian explained in an interview with People, “He’s my reminder, one, not to mess it up, but number two, it’s just something I have to fight for that people don’t know I have.” He also revealed that he “recorded himself reading baby books” to leave for his son while he was filming the season.

What happened between Christian Hubicki and Gabby Pascuzzi?
Seeing as Christian was dating Emily during David vs. Goliath, one would think that he would not come up in the same sentence as the word “showmance.” However, Christian was surprised to find out that fans had theorized that there were sparks between him and fellow castaway Gabby Pascuzzi when he returned home from the season.
In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Christian shared, “I need to highlight one aspect of the airing that bugged me, and it’s how the relationship between Gabby and I was received by the audience.” Looking back, he explained, “I don’t know exactly the cause, but a lot of the audience watched our season and thought that Gabby had no idea I had a girlfriend. This was shocking to both of us because my girlfriend Emily was my top conversation topic around camp.”
When Christian chatted with Swooon at the Survivor 50 premiere, he revealed that he is actually incredibly pro-showmance as a gaming strategy. “Showmances should be part of the game,” he told Swooon. “They should be. I mean, that’s part of the rawness that you have these people who might click in all kinds of ways. Some of that should be romantic. So, as much as they are shunned strategically, nay. I say nay!”
That being said, Christian made it clear during his EW interview that he wouldn’t have been as vocal about the nature of his and Gabby’s relationship if it hadn’t impacted others in his life as much as it did. He revealed, “I would be approached by complete strangers asking if I’m dating Gabby, and Emily would be right next to me.”
