‘Uncorked’: Everything We Know About Darren Star’s New Netflix Rom-Com Show
Move over, cosmopolitans. Darren Star has a new drink of choice. The Sex and the City and Emily in Paris creator has a new show in the works at Netflix: Uncorked.
The rom-com series will revolve around a winemaker in Napa Valley. We’re already manifesting a sexy sommelier for our leading lady. Wine harvest season is called “The Crush,” so the story practically writes itself. Swooon is breaking down all the details we know so far about Darren Star’s newest show, Uncorked.
What is Uncorked about?
The Netflix series will explore the “life of a talented but self-destructive winemaker who returns to Napa for her second chance at love, legacy, and that elusive 100-point wine. (Not that she’s constantly refreshing winespectator.com or anything.) This is a woman whose greatest passion is also her fatal flaw — a failing that usually begins before lunch on Tuesday.”
Star will serve as an executive producer on the series along with David Schulner. The legendary TV creator loves to have a gorgeous location as a character in his series, and Uncorked will be filmed in Napa Valley, California.
“Seeing audiences around the world fall in love with Emily in Paris has been a dream,” Star said in a statement. “As Emily’s story continues to inspire and unfold, I’m excited to continue my relationship with Netflix and explore a new world with Uncorked. We’re diving straight into the legacy and romance of Napa Valley, where every great vintage has a unique story to tell.”
Schulner added, “Darren and I wanted to create a series that explores what happens when your greatest passion is also your Achilles’ heel. With Napa’s beauty and bounty as our setting, we hope the audience never wants to leave. We want to thank Netflix and Universal Television for indulging our copious amounts of day drinking in the name of meticulous research.”

Who will star in Uncorked?
Uncorked hasn’t unveiled its cast just yet, but you can rest assured that this will be an incredible ensemble. First and foremost, Star knows how to cast leading ladies for his shows. His roster includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Sutton Foster, and Lily Collins. And when it comes to onscreen hunks, Star excels there, too.
When will Uncorked be released?
Uncorked doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’ll be 2027, if not 2028, before we’ll see this wine-loving show hit Netflix. Star is still working on Emily in Paris, which has been renewed for Season 6.
