All About ‘RHORI’ Star Jo-Ellen Tiberi’s Husband & Those ‘Swinging’ Rumors
Bravo fans were introduced to Jo-Ellen Tiberi and her husband, Gary Tiberi, on the premiere of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island on April 2. Jo-Ellen is known in Rhode Island for “spilling tea,” and she’s not afraid to speak her mind.
But even when she’s involved in drama, her husband has her back. They have been together for about 15 years and tied the knot in 2016. In an interview with Swooon, Jo-Ellen admitted that being able to spend more time together during COVID helped the couple “strengthen” their marriage.
“He’s funny. He tolerates me,” she added. “We just have a lot of back and forth banter, and I think our marriage luckily has survived some of the hardest times in our lives. And here we are now.”

What does Jo-Ellen Tiberi’s husband do for a living?
Gary is a loan officer at Movement Mortgage in Rhode Island. He’s been with the company since 2018, according to his LinkedIn. Prior to that, he worked as a loan officer for Embrace Home Loans from 2007 to 2018 and a loan consultant at Dream House Mortgage from 2004 to 2007.
How did Jo-Ellen Tiberi meet her husband?
Jo-Ellen met Gary in 2001 when she was a freshman in high school and he was a senior. “He was the same grade as my sister and Alicia [Carmody], so we’ve all known each other a long time,” Jo-Ellen explained to Swooon. “He was that cool senior, and I was this little innocent freshman walking through the halls, looking at him, like, ‘He’s so hot!'”
However, she clarified that they’re not “high school sweethearts” because they didn’t get together until she was in her 20s and out of college. “We’ve been together since I was about 25,” she explained.
While Jo-Ellen admitted that things “marinated” between her and Gary “a few times” in high school, they “started out as friends” and developed a “really good friendship” before getting together. “He and I reconnected when my dad was sick,” Jo-Ellen added. “He was there for me, and that’s how our relationship started because we had such a strong friendship.”
Does Jo-Ellen Tiberi have kids?
Yes, Jo-Ellen and Gary have three children. Their eldest child, son Gian, was born in 2014, followed by a daughter, Jolie, born in 2021, and another daughter, Gia, in 2024.
While Gia is still too young to really understand what it means to be on a reality show, Jolie “loved all the cameramen and would wave to them in the middle of scenes,” Jo-Ellen told Swooon.

She also said she “discussed” her casting with her son, noting, “He’s 11, he’s hearing it from his classmates, his teachers, things like that. I just wanted to make sure that he felt comfortable and that if he didn’t want to be on camera, he didn’t need to at all, and if he wanted, to he was more than welcome. He’s really insightful. He’s like, ‘I don’t want people to like me because my mom’s on Housewives, I want people to like me for me.'”
Is Jo-Ellen Tiberi a swinger?
Despite rumors on the show that Jo-Ellen is a swinger, she insisted to Swooon that there “is no truth to this story.” She said that “there has never been swinging with Gary and me in any aspect of my life.”
Jo-Ellen pointed out that “Rhode Island is known for swingers. They have a lot of swingers, a lot of open relationships, a lot of people doing things maybe they shouldn’t do. Not saying who, but not me on this one.”
She revealed that her neighbor was the one who told her about the rumor. “I had never heard that rumor about myself,” she admitted. “I heard rumors, but not that one. I don’t know where that one got started.”
