What To Know

  • Hudson Williams, known for his role in Heated Rivalry, appears in the 2024 Lifetime movie Nobody Dumps My Daughter.
  • Nobody Dumps My Daughter entered Netflix’s Top 10 when it arrived on the platform on April 15.
  • The film centers on Theresa and her obsessive mother, Mary, who spirals after her daughter’s boyfriend breaks up with her.

Oh, the things Heated Rivalry fans will do (and watch) for Hudson Williams. Before he stole hearts as hockey player Shane Hollander, the actor was taking someone hostage and giving Connor Storrie a run for his money with his accent work in an episode of Allegiance and stealing scenes in a Hallmark Christmas movie. Naturally, his breakout role in Crave’s hockey romance has prompted not only fans to revisit Williams’ early filmography but also networks, too. Netflix is the latest to capitalize on the Heated Rivalry buzz by promoting Williams’ 2024 Lifetime movie Nobody Dumps My Daughter.

It was a smart move because Nobody Dumps My Daughter jumped to the Top 10 when it was added to the platform on April 15. Netflix even made its own fan edit of Williams in the TV movie, which follows Theresa (Jasmine Vega) and her mother, Mary (Ana Ortiz). When Theresa’s high school boyfriend breaks up with her, the marriage-obsessed Mary goes to great lengths to get them back together. Spoiler alert (at least for those unfamiliar with Lifetime movies): It turns deadly. When she discovers he took her daughter’s virginity, Mary hires a hit man to take the boy out. She thinks that killing him will be like hitting a reset button for her daughter’s purity because that’s totally normal.

So, where does a varsity jacket-clad Hudson Williams fit into all of this? Does he dump the titular daughter? We watched Nobody Dumps My Daughter on 2x speed so we could answer this very question (and get the timestamps of Williams’ scenes) for you.

Scene #1

Williams has no real-life hockey skills, but he got to show off his hooping ones in Nobody Dumps My Daughter. (Fun fact: Williams played basketball in high school.) Around the 5-minute mark, it becomes clear that Jimmy (Aiden Howard) is going to be the unlucky boyfriend. For some reason, he and his friends think it’s a good idea to play a game of basketball in the pouring rain. Theresa and her entourage watch from the bleachers, somehow perfectly dry. Jimmy gets distracted by Theresa, so Hudson’s character (who’s still unnamed at this point) yells at him to “get his head in the game,” which we noted as a reference to the Disney Channel classic High School Musical. “Women are evil,” he says as he lobs the ball to Jimmy. We’ll give this scene a 10/10 for foreshadowing and putting Williams in a sweater vest.

Scene #2

Jimmy and Theresa have already started dating and slept together by the 31-minute mark. Sean — Williams’ character has a name now — is recounting a story about one of his hookups. He’s telling his friends about hiding under the bed “butt-ass naked” to avoid being caught by the girl’s mom. Sean course-corrects when he notices Theresa walking up: “Yeah, so we made sure every kid in the hospital got a toy that day. No big deal. I’m no hero.” We’ll give this scene an 8/10: Williams has the douchey jock persona down. Let’s be real, though, the varsity jacket is doing most of the heavy-lifting.

Scene #3

Between the 31 and 46-minute marks, Jimmy cheats on Theresa at Sean’s party. We don’t actually see Sean there — the scene revolves around Jimmy bringing a girl up to a bedroom. (Is it Sean’s? Who knows?) When Mary finds out from her daughter that Jimmy is at Sean’s party, she’s furious. Jimmy went to Sean’s instead of Theresa’s grandmother’s birthday party — because that’s a totally reasonable expectation when you’ve been dating for a couple of months.

Mary figures out Sean’s address. She marches herself over there and finds Jimmy in a compromising position. Her daughter and Jimmy break up the next day. So, in a way, you could say that Sean caused Jimmy’s eventual demise.

But we digress. Sean pops up again 46 minutes into the movie, when Mary rolls up to the high school to return Jimmy’s letterman jacket. Sean watches Jimmy’s weird exchange with Mary, who has cast a “spell” on the jacket to make him get back together with her daughter. She’s STILL convinced they’re meant for each other, cheating aside. We’ll give this scene a 7/10 for the reappearance of Williams in the jacket. And we did chuckle a little at Sean’s “I’d wash that if I were you” comment.

Those turn out to be Sean’s last words. Not because he dies, but because he never shows up again. Not even to Jimmy’s funeral! Maybe Sean was secretly in love with Jimmy, so he was too devastated to show up? (Get on it, fanfic writers!) Was Williams unavailable the day the scene was shot? Either way, whatever became of Sean remains a mystery.
