Semper Fi! All About the ‘Boots’ Cast & Their Real-Life Loves
In the new Netflix series Boots, Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) enlists in the Marines in the early 1990s. As he’s put through his paces in boot camp training, Cameron also has to contend with keeping his sexuality a secret. He could be arrested if anyone finds out that he’s gay — the show takes place before it was legal for LGBTQ+ people to serve in the military.
Since the subject of who one loves is so central to the plot of Boots, we thought we’d do a deep dive into the actors’ real-life romances. What is Heizer’s relationship status in real life? What about the dreamy Max Parker, who plays Cameron’s complicated instructor? Scroll down to find out who in the Boots’ cast is single or taken.
Boots, Season 1, Streaming Now, Netflix
Max Parker
Parker, who plays Sergeant Sullivan in the series, is off the market! In December 2020, the British actor confirmed that he was gay. At the same time, Parker revealed that he was living with Kris Mochrie, who played his onscreen brother in British soap Emmerdale.
The actors started dating in 2019, and they tied the knot earlier this year, sharing their love on Instagram all the while. “He deserves the world, but the best I could do was promise him my heart,” Parker wrote to share the news of their engagement in 2o22. “HE SAID YES. Happiest moment of my life.”
Angus O'Brien
Angus O’Brien, who appears as the unhinged-yet-endearing Hicks, is in a relationship with Chris Adkins. In March 2024, the actor celebrated their anniversary via Instagram. “Two years of 😍🤩🥰🫂 I love you @chrisjadkins,” he wrote.
In 2018, O’Brien wrote about being a gay actor and playing the role of a transphobic bully on NBC’s Rise. “Queer stories are starting to be told on a mainstream level,” he said in a Teen Vogue essay. “Even better, queer stories are starting to be told by actual queer actors… So what is my role in all this? As a straight-passing, white, cisgender, gay man in the industry, what is my contribution? To quote my friend Ellie, ‘continue the fight for other marginalized folks.'”
Miles Heizer
Heizer appears to be single, but he also tends to keep his love life under wraps. The actor hasn’t been linked to anyone publicly since 2020. Heizer and Locke & Key star Connor Jessup went Instagram official in February of that year. Though they still follow each other, they haven’t appeared on each others’ social media recently.
In an interview with Attitude, Jessup said dating Heizer was a factor in his decision to come out. He also confirmed that they had been together for “about 18 months” by February 2020. It was Jessup’s “first time being in love.”
Heizer, 31, came out publicly when he was 19, and he’s spoken about his experience in the media. “I had a very unfortunately classic gay coming-out story. It was a nightmare and everyone was upset,” he told Variety, citing his “super-conservative, religious family.”
Liam Oh
Since Boots is Oh’s breakout role, not much is known about the actor’s — who plays Cameron’s best friend Ray — romantic life. There doesn’t appear to be a significant other pictured anywhere on the 26-year-old’s Instagram, so it’s possible he’s single.
Kieron Moore
Moore, who plays the antagonistic Slovacek, hasn’t made his relationship status public knowledge. This year, the actor sparked dating rumors with his Code of Silence costar, Rose Ayling-Ellis, but he’s only referred to her as a friend, according to Entertainment Daily.
“Rose is the most fascinating human being I’ve ever met,” he told Film Updates. “I’ve gained such a friend as opposed to just a colleague. We were intrigued by each other, we were curious, and we just both wanted it to be the best that it could be.”
Jack Kay
Jack Kay, who plays Cameron’s bunkmate and brief love interest in the last few episodes, appears to be single. He hasn’t posted a significant other on Instagram. Kay uploaded a photo of himself kissing playwright Jacob Wasson’s forehead in 2022, but he seemed to dismiss any romance rumors. “Honored to be your fake boyfriend on the internet,” he wrote in an October 15 Instagram Story, tagging Wasson.
Johnathan Nieves
The loveable Ochoa gets his heart broken in Boots, but what’s the relationship status of his actor? Johnathan Nieves, who doesn’t have a public Instagram account, keeps a low profile. It’s unclear whether he’s single or not.
Rico Paris
Based on a glance at his Instagram, Rico Paris — who portrays recruit Santos — seems to be single. However, it is possible that the 35-year-old actor is simply keeping his romantic life private, so his relationship status is unclear.
Brandon Tyler Moore
Brandon Tyler Moore, who was an Alabama football player before he turned to acting, hasn’t shared many details about his personal life online or in the media. Moore, who plays one half of the Bowman twins, appears to be single. But like many of his costars, Moore has kept his relationship status private.
Blake Burt
There isn’t any obvious sign of a SO on Blake Burt‘s social media, aside from a photo of a smiling woman who may or may not be a special someone. She looks similar to the person showing off her engagement ring in this post, which Burt was tagged in earlier this year. So, there is a chance that the John Bowman actor is taken.
Dominic Goodman
Beyond his role as Nash in Boots, you might recognize Goodman from Netflix’s First Kill. The actor’s social media has mostly consisted of project-related posts since he entered the spotlight, with no hint of a partner. It’s possible that he’s single, unless he’s choosing to keep his dating life offline.
Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson
As one of the few women in the cast, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson plays Alice, Ray’s love interest and a fellow Marine recruit. The actress hasn’t revealed if she has a romance of her own.
Vera Farmiga
Unlike her Boots character (Cope’s mother), Vera Farmiga is happily married. The actress met musician Renn Hawkey on the set of Touching Evil in 2004, and they got married after four years of dating. They’ve since had two kids together, Fynn and Gytta.
Though Farmiga shares her love for her husband on often on Instagram — they celebrated their 17th anniversary in September — she rarely gives insights into their relationship to the media.
In 2010, she told People at LAX airport, “My husband and I have made a pact. We are inseparable. He and my son just come along. I can’t handle it alone. I don’t like it when they’re not with me. I need them.”
The actress was previously married to actor Sebastian Roché, who she met on the set of 1997’s Roar TV series.
Beau Mirchoff
Sergeant Maitra gets married in the show, but what about the actor who plays him? It appears Beau Mirchoff is single. He began dating psychologist Jenny Meinen in 2020, who he proposed to the following year. In May 2024, Meinen confirmed that they had ended things, according to The List.
Nicholas Logan
Nicholas Logan, aka drill sergeant Howitt, is married to therapist and artist Jazmine Barnes. “She is my rock my reader and always loves and believes in me,” he told Shoutout Atlanta of his then-fiancée in 2022. They tied the knot later that year.
Cedrick Cooper
As per his Instagram bio, Cedrick Cooper is a husband and father. His wife, Daija, regularly posts photos of their family on social media. Similar to his character, Sergeant McKinnon, Cooper recently welcomed a new addition to his family.
Ana Ayora
The Captain Fajardo actress is engaged, according to her Instagram. Last February, she showed off her ring in photos. “Rainy day’s got me feeling nostalgic…This holiday was a f’n unforgettable one. ❤️ 💣⭕️🎄💍,” she captioned the post.
In 2022, she celebrated her SO’s birthday on Instagram. “This amazing man who was my close friend for years and now my partner in life for the last two…” she wrote, “there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t laugh out loud together, you taught me what it means to be a true team in every sense of the word.”
