Bridgerton‘s Season 4 trailer has arrived, and it’s, dare we say, enchanting. The long-teased masquerade ball comes to life in the dazzling first look at Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie’s (Yerin Ha) love story.
Along with introducing Season 4’s leading lady, the trailer, which dropped during Netflix‘s NFL presentation on Christmas Day, also unveiled some key moments previously teased by the cast and creatives behind Shondaland’s Regency-era romantic drama. Based on Julia Quinn’s third book in the Bridgerton series, An Offer From a Gentleman, Season 4 has been hailed as the most faithful adaptation yet, and it appears to ring true based on the trailer’s inclusion of certain book scenes.
From the lake scene and masquerade to the kite scene originating on screen, Netflix is feeding fans with all of the excitement Bridgerton Season 4 surely promises. Along with previewing the primary romance at the center of this latest chapter, the trailer offers a glimpse at Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin’s (Luke Newton) married life, a budding romance between Violet (Ruth Gemmell) and Lord Anderson (Daniel Francis), as well as a glimpse at maid Sophie’s strict employer and stepmother, Araminta (Katie Leung).
Also back for the fun are Claudia Jessie as Eloise, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Hannah Dodd as Francesca, Victor Alli as John, and Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, among others. Once Benedict becomes enchanted by the Lady in Silver, it’s a mad dash to uncover her true identity, so much so that he’s leaning on old hobbies like painting to try and piece the puzzle together.

Lady Whistledown's Fate
Lady Whistledown lives to write another day in the Ton, based on Penelope’s interactions with Queen Charlotte in the trailer’s opening moments. Since the series deviates from Quinn’s books, this path is uncharted territory for book readers, but a welcome return for fans who enjoy Penelope and the narration of Julie Andrews. As an added bonus, fans also got some fun Polin content as the trailer teased a glimpse at their baby and possibly another steamy carriage ride. Someone queue up the Pitbull cover!

Rake-ish Benedict
After exploring Benedict’s sexuality more in Season 3’s final episodes, it appears that the playboy is keeping up appearances in that area as he appears to get around town. While this reputation may not be helpful for tracking down his Lady in Silver, Benedict’s endearing and sunshiny disposition only warms us to him. The same can’t exactly be said of his mother, Violet, who is clearly determined to break his patterns in favor of helping him find a wife.

Sophie's Shoes
As die-hard Bridgerton fans know by now, Season 4 is taking a lot of inspiration from Cinderella, but Sophie’s sparkly shoes are also an Easter egg from the book. For readers who may remember, Sophie borrows a pair of Araminta’s shoes, which is one of the ways the woman discovers Sophie snuck out and attended the masquerade ball, capturing Benedict Bridgerton’s heart. Will these shoes serve a similar purpose? We can’t help but wonder.

Masquerade Madness
The trailer reveals the masquerade ball like never before, uncovering new sides of the fun to come, including looks like Eloise’s (above). In regard to inspiration, it would seem that Eloise is sticking to her book costume for the masquerade, embodying Joan of Arc for the celebration thrown by her mom, Violet.

Eloise Helping Benedict
It’s no secret that Benedict and Eloise are the Bridgerton siblings least interested in marriage, but when he notes that he has to find the woman whose glove he currently possesses, he seeks out help from his younger sister. Eloise’s participation in Benedict’s search was previously teased, but now we’re getting to finally see it in action here.
Netflix
Benedict's Painting
After hanging up his metaphorical artist hat in Season 2, Benedict has seemingly found inspiration to pick up a paintbrush again, as he tries to capture the vision of his Lady in Silver on canvas. Considering Benedict’s inherent love for the arts, perhaps this is a masterpiece in the making? If true love isn’t the secret to unlocking his true potential, then we don’t know what is.
Netflix
The Lake Scene!
For book readers, it’s easy to recognize this moment plucked from Julia Quinn’s pages, especially the much-teased lake scene. In An Offer From a Gentleman, Sophie is wandering around the property Benedict calls My Cottage, when she accidentally happens across him swimming naked in a lake. Hiding behind a tree, she may or may not sneak a peek, but ultimately, it’s a steamier moment fans are anticipating, and this will hopefully tide them over until it arrives onscreen.
Netflix
Violet's Budding Romance
In Season 3, Violet met Lady Danbury’s brother, Lord Marcus Anderson, and quickly struck up a rapport. It seems that their friendly banter is about to turn into something more as the pair touch pinky fingers in this sweet moment from the trailer. It also has us asking the question, is Violet about to have her metaphorical garden tended to like she’s been hoping for? We’re pulling for you, lady!
Netflix
Benophie's Kite Moment
Showrunner Jess Brownell and the cast have long-teased a kite scene in Season 4, and the trailer finally gave fans a taste of what they can expect from the addition to Benophie’s love story. The sweet snippet teases a lighter moment for the true loves as they seemingly spend time at My Cottage.
