24 Onscreen TV Couples We Need to See Reunite Like Katie Holmes & Joshua Jackson

Colin O'Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison as Hook and Emma on 'Once Upon a Time'; Garcelle Beauvais, Jamie Foxx on 'The Jamie Foxx Show'; Minka Kelly, Taylor Kitsch as Lyla and Riggins in 'Friday Night Lights' Season 3
ABC / Warner Bros / Everett Collection / NBC

Dawson’s Creek stars Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson working together again is living rent-free in ours brain. Honestly, we will never get over it! Ever since we learned that the costars are teaming up for a trilogy of romance movies called Happy Hours, we haven’t stopped thinking about all the possibilities.

Dawson’s Creek walked so The Summer I Turned Pretty could run. Joey Potter and Pacey Witter are (and will always be) a teen TV supercouple. We never thought we’d see the day that their portrayers would be starring in another project together. Thankfully, the universe was on our side.

As we swooned over the photos of Holmes and Jackson on set, we couldn’t help but ponder other TV couples we’d like to see do the same thing. Naturally, Swooon had to compile a list of TV couples we’re yearning to reunite on the big or small screen in the future.

Did we miss one of your favorite TV couples? Which pairing would you like to see reunite the most? Scroll down and sound off in the comments below.

Colin O'Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison as Hook and Emma on 'Once Upon a Time'
ABC

Colin O'Donoghue & Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon a Time)

If you miss the days that “CaptainSwan” graced your TV screen, trust me, you are not alone. Once Upon a Time writers knew from the second that Colin O’Donoghue‘s Captain Hook crossed paths with Jennifer Morrison‘s Emma Swan, that the guest starring pirate needed to become a series regular. While the TV couple’s storybook may have closed back in 2018, I’m still yearning to see O’Donoghue and Morrison’s magnetic connection back on my screen. — Rebecca Perlmutter

Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal in 'Normal People'
Hulu

Daisy Edgar-Jones & Paul Mescal (Normal People)

Normal People debuted five years ago, and people are still buzzing about Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones‘ performances. While they’ve become bona fide stars since, appearing in blockbuster hits like Gladiator II and Twisters, these real-life pals spend so much time together offscreen that it’s difficult to keep Normal People off the brain for too long. Their sizzling chemistry as Connell and Marianne in Hulu’s Sally Rooney adaptation would be a crime to waste, which is why we’re itching for a reunion. Perhaps with more com than dram this time. Meaghan Darwish

Joseph Morgan as Klaus and Candice King as Caroline in 'The Originals'
Annette Brown / The CW

Joseph Morgan & Candice King (The Vampire Diaries)

Even though Caroline and Klaus (sadly) never officially got together in The Vampire Diaries, there’s a reason so many fans started shipping King and Morgan’s characters after a single interaction. Their chemistry can be felt through the screen. They didn’t get nearly enough time together in the CW drama, so I would do anything to see them play an actual couple in another show or movie. Heck, they don’t even have to be a couple; I’d be perfectly content just watching them interact again. — Morgan Pryor

Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn as Olivia and Fitz on 'Scandal'
ABC

Kerry Washington & Tony Goldwyn (Scandal)

Honestly, I’m on my umpteenth rewatch of Scandal, and the chemistry between Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn still makes me sweat. They’ll be teaching that kind of onscreen connection in the history books, folks. Let’s not let it be a one and done thing. Get Washington and Goldwyn in a rom-com or have them play a married couple in The White Lotus or something! — Avery Thompson

Jake Epstein and Stacey Farber as Craig and Ellie on 'Degrassi: The Next Generation'
HBO Max

Jake Epstein & Stacey Farber (Degrassi: The Next Generation)

The teen TV slow burn to end all slow burns. Okay, so Craig and Ellie never actually became a couple, but they’re endgame in my mind. There was just that long-awaited kiss in Degrassi Goes Hollywood that I still actively think about. Jake Epstein and Stacey Farber aced that friends-to-lovers chemistry that made the Craig and Ellie ship so powerful. Since we didn’t get a true endgame, get these two in a Hallmark movie so they can have a happy ending! — Avery Thompson

Jacob Anderson and Nathalie Emmanuel as Grey Worm and Missandei on 'Game of Thrones'
HBO Max

Jacob Anderson & Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones)

Grey Worm and Missandei deserved so much better. Given the dumpster fire of Game of Thrones Season 8, Hollywood needs to reunite Jacob Anderson and Nathalie Emmanuel. A romantic period drama? Yes, please. How about a contemporary romance a la Past Lives? More yes. Or Emmanuel could pop up in Interview With the Vampire. The possibilities are endless! — Avery Thompson

Steve Howey, Shanola Hampton as Kev and Viv in 'Shameless' Season 7
Paul Sarkis / Showtime / Everett Collection

Steve Howey & Shanola Hampton (Shameless)

Aw, mom and dad! Steve Howey and Shanola Hampton were the ultimate Shameless power couple. It’s time to reunite these two fantastic actors in another project. A rom-com with these two would be iconic. Stop messing around, Hollywood! — Avery Thompson

Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington in Game of Thrones
HBO

Emilia Clarke & Kit Harington (Game of Thrones)

I know, I know. Jon and Daenerys’ relationship was problematic on so many levels, but before the show revealed that they were related, I thought they had pretty decent chemistry. They were great compliments to each other, even though their romance was a bit rushed. Harington and Clarke have such a cute friendship in real life that I think they would be much better suited for a rom-com. Plus, they’re both hilarious in real life! — Morgan Pryor

Scott Speedman, Keri Russell on the set of 'Felicity'
Andrew Eccles / The WB / Everett Collection

Scott Speedman & Keri Russell (Felicity)

Keri Russell and Scott Speedman just did Variety’s Actors on Actors, and the chemistry was as undeniable as it was on Felicity over 20 years ago. Pair these two up in something like a Mare of Easttown, where there’s a mystery but also so many unsaid feelings. I’d also be down for a riveting family drama with these two as the central couple. — Avery Thompson

Minka Kelly, Taylor Kitsch as Lyla and Riggins in 'Friday Night Lights' Season 3
Bill Records / NBC / Everett Collection

Minka Kelly & Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights)

Minka Kelly and Taylor Kitsch were a hot couple as teens in Friday Night Lights, but they’d be even hotter together as adults. Bring these two back to the south for a small town romance film, STAT! — Alyssa Norwin

Adam Scott, Amy Poehler as Ben and Leslie in 'Parks and Recreation' Season 5
Tyler Golden / NBC / Everett Collection

Amy Poehler & Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation)

When it comes to onscreen couples, it doesn’t get much sweeter than Parks and Recreation‘s Ben (Adam Scott) and Leslie (Amy Poehler). Initially, they were on an enemies-to-lovers trajectory, but their mutual desire to make the community around them better turned their romance into a friends-to-lovers story we adored. Sure, Adam Scott may be busy with Severance, but considering his many appearances in other shows like Loot and The Studio, surely he has some time for a romantic onscreen reunion with Poehler. Their electric dynamic is hard to find elsewhere. — Meaghan Darwish

Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley as Blair and Dan in 'Gossip Girl' Season 2
Giovanni Rufino / The CW / Everett Collection

Leighton Meester & Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl)

Blair (Leighton Meester) and Dan (Penn Badgley) were far from my favorite Gossip Girl couple, but you could simply do no wrong putting these actors in the same project again. Both stars have had a bit of a career resurgence in recent years, and a romantic film would be the perfect way for them to reunite on screen. — Alyssa Norwin

David Tennant, Billie Piper in 'Doctor Who' Season 2
Adrian Rogers / Sci-Fi Channel / BBC / Everett Collection

David Tennant & Billie Piper (Doctor Who)

When David Tennant joined as the Tenth Doctor, it was after a season of fans falling in love with Billie Piper playing Rose alongside Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor. Part of what made fans accept the change was that once again, we had a pair who worked well together. And the reason why I accepted the back-and-forth and drawn-out slow burn that culminated in a very complicated romantic reunion for the (Metacrisis) Doctor and Rose was because of the chemistry between Tennant and Piper. But there was a lot of drama in that relationship, and given how great Tennant and Piper are onscreen together, I can’t help but want to see them starring in a romantic comedy. Give them something a little more light-hearted! You know they’d be brilliant. — Meredith Jacobs

Mindy Kaling and Chris Messina as Mindy and Danny in 'The Mindy Project'
Jordin Althaus / FOX

Mindy Kaling & Chris Messina (The Mindy Project)

The Mindy Project ended ten years ago, so Mindy Kaling and Chris Messina are long overdue for a reunion. Their dynamic as Doctors Mindy Lahiri and Danny Castellano delivered enemies-to-lovers excellence that is hard to find without the right combination. Captivating over several seasons, Kaling and Messina may not be working together at the moment, but we wouldn’t mind if they happen to find themselves on the same project in the near future. — Meaghan Darwish

Daniel Dae Kim, Yunjin Kim in 'Lost' Season 2
ABC / Everett Collection

Daniel Dae Kim & Yunjin Kim (Lost)

Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjin Kim shared more chemistry in a single episode of Lost than most actors will experience throughout their entire career. As Sun and Jin, Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjin Kim portrayed a relationship that walked the line of volatile and aspirational, culminating in one of the most tragic endings in romance history. It’s about time these actors are reunited, because us Lost fans deserve at least a taste of Sun and Jin’s happy ending. — Rebecca Perlmutter

Garcelle Beauvais, Jamie Foxx on 'The Jamie Foxx Show'
Warner Bros / Everett Collection

Garcelle Beauvais & Jamie Foxx (The Jamie Foxx Show)

It’s been almost 25 years since The Jamie Foxx Show, and it’s astounding that Jamie Foxx and Garcelle Beauvais haven’t worked together again. It’s time to change that. We’d take a revival of The Jamie Foxx Show or a super cool and fabulous rom-com with these two in the leading roles. — Avery Thompson

Scott Michael Foster, Spencer Grammer as Cappie and Casey in 'Greek' Season 3
Karen Neal / ABC Family / Everett Collection

Scott Michael Foster & Spencer Grammer (Greek)

Seriously, Casey (Spencer Grammer) and Cappie (Scott Michael Foster) FOREVER. A Greek revival that saw these characters years after their college days would be epic, but if we can’t have that, I’ll take Grammer and Foster in another love story, please. — Alyssa Norwin.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, James Marsters as Buffy and Spike on 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'
20th Century Fox Film Corp. / Everett Collection

Sarah Michelle Gellar & James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

Say what you will about Spike and Buffy’s complicated relationship, but I don’t think anyone can deny that Marsters and Gellar played off of each other fantastically over the course of their characters’ enemies to lovers arc. Whether you’re a Spuffy shipper or their toxicity is a little too much for you, would any Buffy fan say no to a Marsters and Gellar reunion? We know that Gellar is on board for the show’s upcoming reboot, but is Marsters? Only time will tell, but now that Spike’s got his soul back, we’re manifesting his return. — Morgan Pryor

Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny of 'The X-Files'
William Hawkes / Fox Network / Everett Collection

Gillian Anderson & David Duchovny (The X-Files)

Oh, the will they or won’t they of Mulder and Scully was painful at times to watch (let’s not even discuss the second movie or revival series). But one thing that’s clear, from Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny onscreen together on The X-Files (just look at the bee or baseball scenes!) or even offscreen during interviews is that these two have chemistry. It would be a shame to not continue to capitalize on that in some way, and what better way than in different roles? —Meredith Jacobs

Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson as Jess and Nick in 'New Girl' Season 3
Greg Gayne / Fox / Everett Collection

Zooey Deschanel & Jake Johnson (New Girl)

There are plenty of reasons why New Girl‘s Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson should reunite in an onscreen romance, the top choice being Jessica and Nick’s first kiss. While Johnson has proved he’s greatness as an onscreen kisser (which I break down here), there’s nary a TV kiss that can quite compare to Nick and Jess. Add in the bonus of their quirky and fun dynamic together onscreen as well as their real-life friendship and you have a recipe for TV or movie success. We’d watch their reunion anywhere. — Meaghan Darwish
