Meet the Young Stars of ‘Finding Her Edge,’ Netflix’s Ice Skating Romance Series
Heated Rivalry‘s Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie aren’t the only romance stars to take the ice this winter. We’re heading straight from the cottage to Russo Rink!
Finding Her Edge follows Adriana Russo (Madelyn Keys), a 17-year-old heir to an ice skating legacy, along with her sisters Elise (Alexandra Beaton) and Maria (Alice Malakhov). Based on Persuasion by Jane Eyre, the story centers around Adriana’s return to the ice with new partner Brayden Elliott (Cale Ambrozic). At the same time, Adriana’s old partner and first love, Freddie O’Connell (Oliver Atkins), returns to Russo Rink with his new partner, Riley Monroe (Millie Davis). Madelyn Keys as Adriana Russo
The series’ leading lady, Adriana Russo, is played by Madelyn Keys, a 24-year-old actress from Ontario, Canada. Keys has been acting since she was 10 years old, gaining her first credit as the lead of TVO’s Beats in Bites. Since then, Keys has starred in a collection of movies, including A Mother’s Lie and The Exchange.
As soon as the trailer for Finding Her Edge premiered on January 8, fans were quick to comment that Keys looks incredibly similar to The Hunger Games-era Jennifer Lawrence. Keys even posted a throwback selfie of her smiling beside Lawrence, writing, “The comparison on everyone’s minds! We have in fact, been spotted in the same room at the same time 😉 Seriously, the love on the trailer has been incredible can’t wait to show you more soon!” Learn more about Madelyn Keys here!
Cale Ambrozic as Brayden Elliot
Keys is joined on the ice by Cale Ambrozic, who plays Brayden Elliot, Adriana’s new skating partner and fake boyfriend. He’s previously starred in Hotel Cocaine and made a swoonworthy appearance in We Were Liars as Blake Beaumont. To celebrate his role in Finding Her Edge, Ambrozic posted, “Well I guess I figure skate now 🤷🏻♂️ I’m good I swear.”
Ambrozic’s social media presence also makes it clear that he’s friends with fellow We Were Liars actor and Sunrise on the Reaping lead, Joseph Zada, who wrote, “Love you bro big ups 🫶🏼🫶🏼” on his most recent casting announcement. Olly Atkins as Freddie O'Connell
On the other edge of Adriana’s icy love triangle is Freddie O’Connell, played by Olly Atkins. Before Finding Her Edge, Atkins appeared as Rogue Demigod Auggie in Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Micah in The 5-Year Christmas Party.
While Atkins has only been in one episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians (so far!), he has remained close with the rest of the cast. When Atkins posted the Finding Her Edge trailer, Dior Goodjohn, who plays Clarisse La Rue, commented, “Annnnnnnnd the repost button has been hit,” followed by “Eeeekkkkkkk so excited.”
Alexandra Beaton as Elise Russo
Alexandra Beaton plays Adriana’s sister, Elise Russo. Beaton was most recently seen in Overcompensating, where she played Bridget, the rush cohead of Flesh & Gold. She also starred as Emily on the Canadian teen drama series The Next Step.
On May 31, 2025, Beaton posted two photos posing with the full cast, seemingly from their wrap party. There, she confirmed that filming for Finding Her Edge had officially ended in Canada. She wrote, “And that’s a wrap on Toronto 🎬.” Check out those adorable photos here.
Alice Malakhov as Maria Russo
Adriana and Elise’s younger sister, Maria Russo, is played by Alice Malakhov, who is best known for her role as Alice Baynard in Anne with an E. More recently, Malakhov played featured roles in IT: Welcome to Derry and Adults.
When Finding Her Edge filming ended in Toronto, the young actress wrote, “That’s a wrap!! this show has been an absolute dream, can’t wait to share more⛸️ 🎬.” She later shared pictures with the cast in Paris as well.
Millie Davis as Riley Monroe
Millie Davis rounds out the main cast as Freddie’s current skating partner, Riley Monroe. The 19-year-old actress from Toronto is known for her work on PBS’s The Odd Squad and portrayal of young Claire Hargreaves on The Umbrella Academy.
While filming, Davis and her onscreen partner, Olly Atkins, traveled to New York City together for the premiere of Hell of a Summer. She then traveled to Paris to film with the rest of the cast, sharing with her followers, “Who’s in Paris?? (The cast of Finding Her Edge, duh).”
