‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story’ Cast’s Real-Life Relationships & Dating History
Romance was about the furthest thing from our minds when we watched Monster: The Ed Gein Story. Netflix’s latest true crime series from Ryan Murphy follows serial killer Ed Gein, who killed and desecrated the bodies of multiple women in the 1950s. His crimes inspired iconic horror movies like Psycho and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
But now that we’ve binged all the episodes, we admittedly found ourselves wondering about the love lives of the incredible ensemble cast, which includes the likes of Charlie Hunnam (who transformed himself for the leading role), Laurie Metcalf, Suzanna Son, Addison Rae, and more.

Charlie Hunnam
Hunnam has been off the market for nearly two decades. His partner is jewelry designer Morgana McNelis, who stays out of the spotlight for the most part. They occasionally step out onto the red carpet with each other, such as for this year’s Emmys and the Monster premiere in New York.
The two haven’t revealed how they met, but in 2020, the 45-year-old actor said they’d been together for about 14 years. Their public debut took place at a 2008 Sons of Anarchy screening.
Though they haven’t tied the knot, Hunnam has been married before. He once wed his girlfriend that he’d dated for three weeks. He met actress Katharine Towne in 1999 at an audition for Dawson’s Creek, and they got hitched in Vegas. They divorced in 2002.
Suzanna Son
Adeline Watkins was Gein’s decades-long girlfriend, but what’s the romantic history of the actress who plays her? Suzanna Son is married to talent manager Ana Bedayo, who has appeared on her social media profile over the years.
Not much is known about their relationship, but when Son was promoting Fear Street: Prom Queen, she talked about the different ways they handle horror movies.
“I will watch Sinners on shrooms in IMAX, and my wife is freaking out and I have to console her while I’m on shrooms, which is crazy,” she told Pride. “So if that gives you any bit of the dynamic, she’s such a chicken, but I love her so much because she will watch all of the horror [movies] with me, and I’ll just maybe I’ll watch it first, and then I’ll have to tell her there’s a jump scare coming.”
Laurie Metcalf
Metcalf, who plays Gein’s mother, is believed to be single. She was previously married to actor Matt Roth, who starred on Roseanne with her, from 2005 to 2014. They raised three kids together before separating, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Before that, Metcalf was married to Scandal star Jeff Perry from 1983 to 1992. They met in Chicago as theater students, and they would go on to have a daughter, Zoe Perry. She’s since become involved in the family business, starring in Young Sheldon, Scandal, and more.
Tom Hollander
Tom Hollander, who brings the director Alfred Hitchcock to life in the show, has been in a relationship for years. His partner is London-based interior designer Fran Hickman.
They got engaged in 2010, but were rumored to have temporarily broken up. In 2018, however, Hickman and Hollander appeared in an Instagram post together. The Daily Mail reported that Hickman moved in with Hollander during the pandemic, and they had a son in 2023.
“I sort of spent many years not really thinking that I was going to be a dad or even wanting to be a dad,” Hollander said on Live with Kelly & Mark. “Laterally, I started to regret that, and suddenly it was … suddenly he’s here so that’s lovely.”
Olivia Williams
Olivia Williams portrays Hitchcock’s wife, but does the actress herself have a partner? She sure does! Williams and actor Rhashan Stone tied the knot in 2003, and they have two daughters.
“Rhashan and I are so lucky,” she told The Guardian in 2012. “We agreed from the start that we would always work out the stuff that was difficult. Our intention was, and is, to stay married so that when problems arise, you don’t have that fear of desertion.”
Addison Rae
Addison Rae has only had two public relationships since she became famous on TikTok and launched her singing and acting careers. She dated TikTok star Bryce Hall in 2019, but confirmed they were no longer together in February 2020.
Earlier this year, Rae told Rolling Stone that she’s still dating record producer Omer Fedi. They went Instagram official with in 2021.
Vicky Krieps
Wedding bells rung for Vicky Krieps, who plays Ilse Koch, earlier this year. She’s married to Greek film production assistant Lazaros Gounaridis.
“This is me getting married to the sun and the sea and the greek wind to my wonderful Lazarus who came back from the dead to save me from drowning,” she wrote on Instagram. She also added photos of the ceremony.
Krieps shares two children with her former partner, actor Jonas Laux.
Lesley Manville
Lesley Manville is currently believed to be single, though she was previously married to Slow Horses actor Gary Oldman in the ’80s. The actress said the “rug was pulled” from under her Oldman left and married then-18-year-old Uma Thurman the same year. Manville and Oldman share a son, Alfie.
Afterward, she wed actor Joe Dixon. They stayed together from 2000 to 2004, but she hasn’t been in a public relationship since. According to The Guardian, the actress said she’s happy to be single. “It sounds awful and makes me sound a bit cold but if I don’t have somebody at home, I don’t have to consider them,” she said in 2023.
Joey Pollari
Not much is known about Joey Pollari‘s dating life. The actor, who plays Anthony Perkins, has discussed his ideal first date.
“I’m actually really simple!” he told Pride. “I don’t like an activity for a first date. I do not want to go bowling or on a hike. My perfect date is you and I sitting down. We have a drink, we have a meal, and we actually get to just talk to one another. That’s just me!”
Charlie Hall
Charlie Hall, who plays Deputy Worden, hasn’t spoken publicly about his dating life. However, earlier this summer, the actor shared vacation photos which might indicate that he has a special someone. In the comments of the Instagram post, NFL player Ben Skowronek wrote, “Congrats on the girlfriend Charlie.”
Tyler Jacob Moore
Tyler Jacob Moore, who starred on Shameless before becoming Sheriff Schley in Monster, previously dated Emmy Rossum. They were together for two years before breaking up in 2013. Since then, Moore has kept his personal life under wraps.
