‘The Beast in Me’ Cast’s Real-Life Relationships: Claire Danes, Matthew Rhys & More
Netflix’s latest thriller, The Beast in Me, is about an author named Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes), who starts investigating Nile Jarvis, a famous real estate mogul (Matthew Rhys), who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. While it’s not a very romantic premise, there are plenty of complicated relationships in the show, which got us thinking about the cast’s off-screen relationships.

Matthew Rhys
Showmance alert! Rhys’ latest character may or may not have gotten rid of his wife, but the actor himself is in a happy relationship with his former costar, Keri Russell. They played a married spy couple on The Americans from 2013 —they kept their relationship secret on set for a year — to 2018. They welcomed a son together in 2016.
“There are moments where you’re ships passing in the night to a degree, and that makes it a little tricky,” Rhys told People in 2025. “But we try not to disrupt home life too much. So that’s how we’ve generally done it, and for the most part, up until now, it seems to work.”
Claire Danes
Another showmance! Danes and her husband, actor Hugh Dancy, met on the set of Evening in 2006, though they started off as friends. Three years later, they got engaged, and it turned out to be the same year that Danes and Dancy said “I do.”
They had a son in 2012, and ahead of his birth, Danes expressed her love for Dancy in her Emmy acceptance speech. “My husband, my love, my life, my baby daddy: This doesn’t mean anything without you. I love you so much, and I’m so grateful. Thank you.”
That same year, Danes told The Sun that she felt secure in her marriage. “It helps when you are in love with the person you are married to,” she explained. “I do sometimes look at him and think: ‘You are really handsome.’ He keeps me sane and happy.”
Their second son arrived in 2018, and five years later, a daughter joined their family.
Brittany Snow
Snow is off the market! In November 2025, Us Weekly reported that The Hunting Wives actress is engaged to Hunter Moreno. In fact, it was Snow’s costar, Danes, that first broke the news of her engagement on The Beast in Me red carpet, according to the outlet.
Snow, who plays Nina Jarvis, and her new fiancé have been romantically linked since October 2024. It’s the first relationship Snow’s had since divorcing Selling the OC‘s Tyler Stanaland. They parted ways in 2022 after marrying two years earlier.
Natalie Morales
Natalie Morales isn’t currently linked to anyone romantically, but the actress, who plays Shelley, did publicly come out as queer in 2017 via an essay on Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls.
“My friends and family knew I was queer before I wrote that article, but a lot of older people close to me urged me not to come out,” she later told Bon Appetit. “They thought it would affect my career and people would pigeonhole me into certain roles. But that was a risk that I was willing to take, because even if one kid felt understood and one adult’s mind was changed in any way, then it was worth it.”
David Lyons
David Lyons is married to actress Carly Pope. In November 2024, Pope confirmed that they had their first child via Instagram. Their love story began about a decade ago, according to her social media. On her husband’s birthday this year, Pope wrote, “17th time wishing you a HAPPY LAP, and it don’t ever get old…of course, um, neither do you, you handsome jerk, neither do you. Ever/always/next birthday, then the next.”
Hettienne Park
Hettienne Park, who plays FBI agent Erika Breton in the show, keeps her romantic life under wraps. It isn’t confirmed whether or not she has a special someone, though some fans have referenced the actress having a husband and son in the past.
Jonathan Banks
Jonathan Banks, aka Rhys’ TV father, has been marred to his wife for over 30 years, Gennera Banks. When she accompanied him on the SAG Awards red carpet, Banks’ wife told The Hollywood Reporter, “I’m the biggest fan he could have. I love what he does.”
They share twins. Banks has one daughter from his previous marriage, as does Gennera. “I love being at home,” the actor told The Guardian in 2016. “My wife and I for the first time are alone. I like my wife. I’m stupid in love with my wife and always have been.”
Tim Guinee
Another showmance! “Wrecking Ball” actor Tim Guinee is married to playwright and screenwriter Daisy Foote, whose father is the Pulitzer Prize-winning Horton Foote. Her father wrote the film (1996’s Lily Dale) that brought her future husband into her life.
Guinee has yet to act in his wife’s projects, but he did tell Daily Freeman, “I love her work. It should be better said. But that’s why she’s the writer.” When asked if she had any directing ambitions, Foote once told Backstage: “I’ll let my husband, actor-director Tim Guinee, direct my movies.”
Deirdre O'Connell
Deirdre O’Connell, who plays Aggie’s literary agent, has been with her partner for decades. Her longtime boyfriend is Alan Metzger, who used to be involved in the entertainment industry before becoming an educator, per the Los Angeles Times. They don’t share children, according to the actress’ New York Times profile, but she is close to Metzger’s.
When she won a Tony Award in 2022, O’Connell told The Times that she regretted not thanking Metzger in her speech, having felt reluctant to share details about her private life.
Aleyse Shannon
Aleyse Shannon, who plays the city council member who’s against Nile’s business plans, is possibly single. There’s no sign of a significant other on her social media, but she also might just be keeping her private life out of the spotlight.
