‘The Golden Bachelor’ Season 2: Get Your First Look at Mel Owens’ Contestants (PHOTOS)
With The Golden Bachelor Season 2 set to premiere this fall, it’s about time we got an update on Mel Owens‘ journey to find love again . On July 19, ABC gave an early look at the 25 potential Golden Bachelor Season 2 contestants.
The women are from all across the United States and range in age from 58 to 77 years old. This isn’t the official cast list. These ladies are among the 25 possible contenders. However, we’ll likely see most of them when the show premieres on September 24.
The age of the Season 2 ladies has been a talking point over the last few weeks, following the 66-year-old’s candid conversation about what he was looking for in a woman to spend his golden years with.
“I just said, ’45 to 60.’ Just being honest, right?” the divorced former NFL player said on the MGoBlue podcast. “And then the process went and I was selected. Then we had lunch with the executive producer. I said, ‘If they’re over 60, I’m cutting them.’ [They said], ‘Oh, no, this is not The Silver Bachelor, this is The Golden Bachelor, but they’re going to be hot, don’t worry about it, don’t worry about it.’ He goes, ‘You can’t use the word cut,’ I go, ‘That’s an NFL term.’”
The premiere of The Golden Bachelor Season 2 comes two years after Gerry Turner searched for love in the inaugural season of the senior citizen spinoff series. He married his winner, Theresa Nist, in January 2024, but they split just months later. Joan Vassos, one of Gerry’s contestants, was the first lead of The Golden Bachelorette and got engaged to her winner, Chock Chapple.
