If you’re watching Veronica Mars for the first time — the first three seasons are arriving on Netflix on January 14— we envy you. Without delving into spoiler territory, the whodunnit series offers has iconic lead in teen private investigator Veronica (Kristen Bell) and a compelling overarching mystery. As Veronica solves her weekly cases, she also sets out to find whoever murdered her best friend (Amanda Seyfried) — and she even gets an epic love story in the process.

Again, in case you aren’t that far into your binge, we won’t get into the details, but we will say that Veronica Mars gave us one of our favorite TV couples of all time. We’re all for a good mystery, but we’d be lying if we didn’t admit that the romance has made us watch all four seasons and the movie. Since love is so central to Veronica Mars, we thought we’d do a deep dive into the relationships of the initial cast, over 20 years after Season 1 first dropped. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the fandom, find out the real-life loves of Jason Dohring and more.

Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars)

Shortly after Veronica Mars went off the air in 2007 — though it came back for a fourth season over a decade later — Bell met actor Dax Shepard. They didn’t feel sparks immediately, but that changed  when they crossed paths a couple of weeks later. They casually dated for three months before making it exclusive. In 2009, Shepard proposed, and they married in October 2013. They share two daughters: Lincoln, who was born in March 2013, and Delta, who came along in December 2014.

There aren’t many details about the couple’s romance, though they reportedly married in 2015. One of their sons, Percy Daggs IV, is following in his dad’s footsteps. Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls)

Dohring has been married since before Veronica Mars first started airing. He tied the knot with painter Lauren Kutner in the summer of 2004. “We were friends beforehand in high school,” he told Good Morning America. “I tell my friends, ‘You’re not having sex with a person that much, so you better like them.’”

They keep their life with their four kids private for the most part, though Dohring has occasionally shared tidbits on social media. To commemorate their 20th anniversary, the actor wrote a message to his wife on Instagram. “My wife and I were married 20 years ago today. We have had an amazing life together, including raising four incredible children. I consider her my best friend.” They now live in West Virginia.

Like Dohring, Ryan Hansen also married shortly before Veronica Mars premiered in 2004. He started dating his now-wife, Amy Russell, when they were in high school. “We got married when she was 19 and I was 22 years old,” he told The Dad. “We just kind of grew up together, so we know everything about each other.”

In fact, the couple lived with Bell early on in their marriage, up until their first child arrived. “They’re my best friends,” Bell told Cosmopolitan in 2009. Hansen said in the same interview that “Kristen and Amy will often cook up a storm … because this place is like a commune. There are constantly people in and out of Hotel Bell.”

Hansen and his wife share three daughters, Crosby Jane, Millie Magnolia, and Everett Eloise. His whole family often makes appearances on his Instagram.
