Love Island Games, Season 2 Finale, October 5, 9/8c, Peacock
Andrea Carmona & Josh Goldstein
Eliminated: Episode 16
Andrea Carmona and Josh Goldstein were doing well in the “Shoot Your Shot” challenge at first. From the outset, the aim was to have the most basketballs in their section. When it came time for the other couples to start stealing their basketballs, Josh and Andrea’s odds went way down. They had zero balls by the end of the first round, and they needed to have the most to be safe.
In the second round, a white basketball was introduced, and whoever’s section it ended up in would have to leave the villa immediately. In last place, Josh and Andrea had the white ball in their hands. They decided to wait until the last second to put the white ball into play, counting down from five minutes in their heads. In the end, their count was off, and they didn’t get rid of the white ball fast enough.
Casey O'Gorman & Garbi Denteh
Eliminated: Episode 16
Casey O’Gorman and Garbi Denteh took a gamble on Casino Night, and it didn’t pay off. Their fellow Islanders voted for them to be vulnerable, so they were in the bottom three couples by the end of the night. Alongside Garbi and Casey were Johnny Middlebrooks and Gabby Allen, as well as and Josh and Andrea.
In the end, Garbi and Casey could have left their fate up to the safe couples, but they decided to chalk it up to chance. They were dealt with a Roulette wheel, which was divided into red and white sections. If the marble landed on white, they had to leave the villa immediately. Ultimately, that’s what ended up happening for the new couple.
Kendall Washington & Nicola Gauci Borda-Warr
Eliminated: Episode 14
The show threw four Islanders into duel after Episode 13’s team challenge. The winning team, led by Gabby and Johnny, was tasked with selecting two boys and two girls from the losing team to battle it out. A boxing ring was set up in the villa, and there were weighted balls placed along the midway line. Whoever had the most balls in their half of the ring lost the round. It was best out of three.
Garbi faced off against Nicola Gauci Borda-Warr. Garbi won the first round, and early on into the second, she accidentally tossed a ball at Nicola’s head. The Love Island Malta alum went down, and she walked away with medics after being checked out. Ultimately, Nicola wasn’t able to return to complete the round, so Garbi won by default. Host Ariana Madix let the Islanders know that Nicola was feeling better, but she didn’t return for the rest of the episode and wasn’table to say goodbye to her fellow competitors.
Love Island USA alums Kendall Washington and Josh were the other duo selected, and it was a close call. Josh won the first round, and round two came down to the wire. The two were essentially tossing one ball back and forth over the divider. In the last second, Josh got it over to Kendall’s side, securing his place in the villa. Kendall left the villa on his own after saying goodbye to his partner, Garbi.
Marvin Anthony & Andreina Santos
Eliminated: Episode 11
Another day, another duel. In the previous episode, Marvin Anthony and Andreina Santos were among the vulnerable Islanders after the Baby Birding game. Marvin was in that position due to his performance in the challenge; Andreina, however, was not. She and her partner, Johnny, were safe, but when a new bombshell arrived (Gabby), Johnny put himself forward to couple up with her. Gabby had Johnny, Tyrique Hyde, and Marvin to choose from, and she went with Johnny.
Afterward, the public vote came into play. America voted for their favorite guy and girl, and the two guys and two girls with the least amount of votes would duel. Andreina faced off against Garbi, and Marvin went up against Kendall.
Each duo was put in a boxing ring and had bells attached to their ankles and wrists and blindfolds covering their eyes. They had tags attached to their belts, which their opponent had to yank off and raise above their head to get a point. (Basically, flag football sans football, and they had to locate their opponent via sound.) It was best out of five rounds.
For the girls, Garbi won the first two rounds, but then Andreina had a comeback and won the following two. Ultimately, Garbi broke their tie, saving herself. In the case of the boys, Kendall and Marvin alternated their wins, so it came down to the fifth round to decide the victor. It went to Kendall, so he and Garbi remain in their couple.
At the end of the episode, Marvin had a bone to pick with Johnny, like Andreina. Marvin thought that Johnny, who was in a safe couple with Andreina, shouldn’t have put himself forward to couple up with Gabby. (A vulnerable Marvin could have been made safe if Gabby had chosen him.) We’ll have to wait and see how Johnny’s actions impact his game and relationships with the rest of the Islanders going forward.
Kay Kay Gray & Chris Seeley
Eliminated: Episode 8
Kay Kay and Chris were one of the stronger couples in the villa, both in the game and connection-wise, but they both lost in Episode 8’s shocking duel.
So how did they get there? Nicola and Isaiah Campbell wound up a power couple at the end of the heart rate challenge in Episode 7. Out of the three couples in the bottom, they had to pick two boys to duel each other and two girls. It wasn’t an easy decision, but they pitted Johnny against Chris and Kay Kay against Andrea Carmona.
Their setup? A boxing ring divided into two blue and two yellow zones. A weighted training bag would drop in the middle of the ring. Each player got assigned a color, and they had to wrestle the bag into their zone and keep it there by the time the buzzer sounded.
Compared to Johnny and Chris’, Andrea and Kay Kay’s battle was more straightforward, with Andrea winning the first two out of three rounds, making herself safe.
Johnny and Chris’ duel was a close call, with the first round going to Johnny. However, they couldn’t proceed with the next one because Chris injured his middle finger while holding onto the bag. The show’s medics advised him to stop, so Chris ultimately took himself out of the running after that.
Mert Otakan & Solène Favreau
Eliminated: Episode 6
Episode 6 saw a brutal double elimination. Season 2 introduced a new twist with the public vote, which took place for the first time at the end of Episode 4.
Mert Otakan and Solène Favreau almost made it to safety after performing well in Episode 6’s “Laying the Field” challenge, but Kay Kay and Chris came out on top. As a power couple, they were instructed to make one couple vulnerable that wasn’t already. They went with Mert and Solène, thinking their bond was less strong as a friendship couple.
After that, the public vote came into play. When it came down to which couple was America’s favorite, Mert and Solène had the least amount of votes in their favor.
Charlie Georgiou
Eliminated: Episode 3
Love Island Games wasted no time in sending its first Islander packing. Charlie entered as a heartbreaker at the end of Episode 1, stealing Andrea from Josh. Josh challenged Charlie to a duel in Episode 2, and when Charlie lost, he became vulnerable. He had a chance at saving himself when Season 1 champ Justine entered the villa as a bombshell, but they lost their duo challenge to Nicola and Isaiah.
Ultimately, Episode 3’s dumping came down to an Islander vote between the two contestants that had broken heart necklaces: Kendall and Charlie. More contestants wanted Kendall to stay, so Charlie had to leave the villa. The circumstances were similar to Charlie’s Love Island USA Season 7 elimination, though this time around, it came a few episodes earlier.
