The Bachelorette alum Rachel Lindsay was a guest co-host during the December 3 episode of The View and opened up about her ongoing divorce with ex Bryan Abasolo. The estranged couple met and fell in love during Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette.

“We were looked at as one of the more successful relationships that came from the show,” Lindsay said. “Anywhere I went, people would ask me about my relationship and how you’re doing and when are you having kids, all of the things that were wrapped up in that, and you feel the public pressure to always let people know that everything’s great, even though behind closed doors that might not be the case, or you’re working on it, or you’re having a bad day or whatever it may be.”

She continued, “A lot of that is wrapped up in shame. You don’t want to say that you failed. You’re scared for people to see you in a different way.”

Fellow guest host Abby Huntsman asked Lindsay when she realized things were going south with Abasolo. “I would probably say maybe I saw signs before [the marriage], but as women, we’re fixers, and we think we can figure it out,” she admitted before adding, “Eventually, I saw it more, I would say, within two years.”

Lindsay and Abasolo married in 2019. Abasolo filed for divorce in December 2023. Their split quickly turned messy, with Lindsay being ordered to pay her ex $13,000 monthly in spousal support.

“Your identity becomes wrapped up in the relationship, and you’re afraid that’s the only way people see you, but I’m here to tell you, it’s not. You can take your power back. You can find your power within, and no one has to dim your light,” Lindsay said on The View.

When someone brought up that you can’t control what your partner’s doing on social media, Lindsay quipped, “That’s been true.”
