Meg Ryan & Billy Crystal Reunite 36 Years After ‘When Harry Met Sally’
Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal are back together again! Nearly 36 years after the actors starred in When Harry Met Sally… together, they posed for a photo shared to Instagram on Wednesday, January 22.
“It’s finally happening,” the joint Instagram post was captioned. “We’re reuniting for something iconic. Can’t wait to show you all soon.” The caption was concluded with a blue heart emoji.
In the new photo, Crystal was wearing his iconic cable knit sweater, which he wore for two scenes in the 1989 movie. However, it’s likely not the same exact one from the film, as the actor revealed in October 2024 that he lost the legendary article of clothing.

“I made a donation,” he explained to PEOPLE. “I believe it was to UCLA’s theater department with tons of clothes for costumes. I have a feeling it’s there. I’ve racked my brain as I’ve seen other people — you’ve seen them on social media wearing a sweater, doing the pose that is from that scene. I wish I had that sweater.”
While Ryan and Crystal did not specify what they’re working on now, many fans in the comments section of their social media announcement speculated that it’s probably a Super Bowl ad. With the big game coming up on February 9, the commercials are beginning to be rolled out.
However, many commenters are holding out hope for the actors coming together for another movie — or even possibly a sequel to When Harry Met Sally. “Please don’t get my hopes up. I need a real sequel,” one person wrote. Overall, the response was overwhelmingly positive, with fans flooding the comments section with reactions like, “I’m having a heart attack,” “NOBODY MOVE,” and, “I can’t wait to hear more and will hover around Instagram just to see what happens next.”
In 2024, Crystal told TV Insider that one of the movie’s most iconic scenes almost never happened: Harry and Sally’s stroll through Central Park. “I remember we were shooting a really lovely scene in Central Park where she tells me about this dream that she has, and it’s a just really lovely little scene before we go into the Temple of Dendur. We did the scene, we finished the scene, it rained, and the leaves were gone. The next day they were just gone,” he said.
