‘Bachelor’ Star Zach Shallcross Gives Shocking Update on Wedding Plans With Kaity Biggar

More than two years after getting engaged, Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar still haven’t made it down the aisle. After they hit a snag in their planning process, Shallcross had a shocking new update to share.

On the Thursday, January 23, episode of Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti‘s Almost Famous podcast, The Bachelor star revealed the couple’s new plan — and it’s happening sooner than you’d think!

“I don’t know if Kaity wants me to talk about this, but we’re planning to get eloped very soon. Like, very soon,” Shallcross teased. “And then we’ll figure out the celebration and all that. The glitz and the glamor. Yes, it’s not a matter of when, it’s the other stuff [like] wanting to have all the family from all over come for it.”

A few months after their season of The Bachelor finished airing in March 2023, Shallcross and Biggar moved in together in Austin, Texas. At the beginning of 2024, they relocated to a new house together. Now, their priority is on buying a home, rather than paying for a big wedding.

However, they were pretty deep into the planning process when they decided to elope instead. The Texas residents even picked out a venue that they liked with the help of a wedding planner.

“We had explicitly shared with her, ‘This is our budget for the wedding. What we want to focus on, priority number one, is getting a house, and second is wedding. It’s awesome, but we’ll see if we can fit it into what makes sense for us,'” Shallcross explained. “Our lovely planner is like, ‘Hey, with what you guys want to do, it’s not going to be possible with this venue that you guys really like. Just know that you’re going to go a lot over budget.'”

After the pair “pondered” the situation for a week, they realized it didn’t feel right. “It does not feel good to go so into this venue when we’ve already established what our priorities are, which is buying a house and not a down payment for one day,” Shallcross added. “So we backed out of the contract. Not saying we’re done with wedding planning. We’ve actually gone further in other areas. But we just couldn’t do that.”
