Keyla Monterroso Mejia Toasts to ‘You’re Cordially Invited’ & Her Favorite Romances (VIDEO)
Keyla Monterroso Mejia is everywhere these days. The actress stars alongside Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon in the Prime Video comedy You’re Cordially Invited, out January 30. She also appears in the new comedy One of Them Days, the Netflix series Running Point, and the Apple TV+ comedy The Studio.
In honor of 14 Days of Swooon, we sat down with Mejia, who spilled about her wedding comedy and tested her romance knowledge in our Source the Swooon video, which you can watch above.
In You’re Cordially Invited, Mejia plays Heather, who is part of the battle of the weddings. She’s on Team Ferrell, “much to his dismay,” Mejia quipped to Swooon. She described Heather as “fun” and “intense,” but “she’s not very reliable.” However, “she means well, and she’s a good time.”
Getting to work alongside Ferrell led to non-stop laughs. “The script itself was amazing but watching it jump off the page was just something completely different,” Mejia said.
Since we’re in the wedding spirit, we had to ask the actress about what she loves most about weddings. “I’m not gonna lie, I like an emotional girl,” the Freeridge alum noted. Cue the tearful speeches! Her wedding no-no is someone who does not have a “good attitude.”
Naturally, weddings bring up romance, so we had to quiz Mejia about famous romantic quotes from television and film for our latest edition of Source the Swooon. The actress, who declared herself in her “lover girl era,” knew Anthony Bridgerton’s “bane of my existence” speech to Kate Sharma from Bridgerton Season 2 instantly (who doesn’t?), as well as Jack Twist’s “I wish I knew how to quit you” declaration from Brokeback Mountain.
The Notebook also made Mejia want to have a porch in front of her house. Noah and Allie, still inspiring lover girls 20 years later. Their impact is unparalleled.
