Emilie de Ravin Looks Back at ‘Remember Me’ Romance 15 Years Later

Remember Me emotionally wrecked an entire generation of viewers when the romantic drama was released on March 12, 2010. The movie follows the relationship between Ally (Emilie de Ravin) and Tyler (Robert Pattinson), who bond and fall in love after suffering heartbreaking losses.
However, Ally and Tyler’s relationship is tragically cut short when Tyler dies in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. In the final moments of the film, Tyler goes to visit his father’s office, and viewers see him looking out of the North Tower shortly before the attacks. De Ravin spoke with Swooon about the movie’s 15th anniversary.
“That movie affected me so much,” the actress said. “I remember reading that script and was like, ‘I have to do this.’ This is just such a beautiful story and such an honest telling of these people’s lives and the situation. It’s obviously incredibly sad as well.”

She continued, “That’s a big highlight job for me. It’s maybe not what put me on the map, but if somebody had to say of my past work, ‘What would you want me to watch of your work?’ I would say that.”
De Ravin loved how Remember Me was filmed on location in New York City. “There was one part of an apartment that was a set, but the apartment was real,” she noted. “We were on the streets. It was like a theater production almost, actually, because it was not long after Twilight had first come out, so the streets were just filled. It was really like doing a live performance.”
The Once Upon a Time alum said she “felt extremely lucky” to work alongside the ensemble cast. “Rob’s amazing, and Pierce [Brosnan] and Chris [Cooper] obviously had such phenomenal careers, and Lena [Olin], too. They’re just good people,” she said.
