Stuck in the throes of a love triangle in Love Is Blind Season 8, Mason Horacek and Meg Fink have long surpassed that phase in their relationship. They dated around in the pods to find their perfect partner, and both of them walked away single. They decided to rekindle their flame outside the show when they were back home in Minneapolis.

However, this first run at a relationship was short-lived. They have since reunited for good. The couple, who told everyone they were “just friends” at the reunion, opened up about finding their way back to each other and revealed new details about their relationship.

On the Dear Shandy podcast, they revealed exactly what happened between them. “So, at the reunion, we said that we were just friends because we actually were at the time,” Horacek shared. “It’s kind of crazy because living through the whole show and watching it back and everything, we just kind of were there for each other. And through that, rekindled, and now we’re taking it slow and seeing where things go.”

Following up Horacek’s explanation, Fink dished that they tried dating twice but weren’t fully convinced they were meant to be in a relationship. “Throughout that, we kind of were like, ‘Okay, there’s some things we really want in a relationship that just aren’t there yet, and we didn’t want to force it,'” Fink said.

“So we’ve had a year together of truly being best friends, like talking nearly every day, showing up for each other in some of the hardest parts of life the past year, and then when the show drops, just really being the shoulder that we leaned on, and it just brought us so much closer together,” Fink continued. “And we’ve worked on those things that originally weren’t really working in our relationship, to now I feel like it’s a really good balance, and we’ve figured out what we needed to.”

Not shying away from telling the audience what was wrong initially, Horacek admitted, “I feel like a lot of the reason we didn’t work out was because of who I am as a partner or who I was, essentially.”

He said, “Basically, I am such a people pleaser in a relationship where I will just drop anything that my partner wants to do. If that’s like hanging out in the afternoon, I’ll cancel plans or whatever I have going on to go do that because I expect my partner to do that kind of stuff and just always [be] there. Dating Meg, she wanted someone who had their own opinions and just essentially backbone, like make up your own decision.”

Fink agreed, “I mean, I’ve always loved Mason knowing his history of relationships. I feel like he’s always sacrificed so much of himself.” She wanted him to have more autonomy and show her what he wanted, which is what he did when they were just friends.

The love between them was always there. Acknowledging that their bond felt “safe and comfortable,” Fink lovingly confessed, “I don’t have to do anything to be accepted and loved by Mason.”

Horacek agreed and praised his partner, “I’ve never had such a healthy, caring relationship with a partner who actually wants the best for me, so this is just a whole new world for me.”
