Everything ‘Pop the Balloon’ Host Yvonne Orji Has Said About Her Love Life & Virginity

Have you missed Yvonne Orji ever since Insecure ended? (Haven’t we all?) Thankfully, the actress is returning to the small screen, but she’s not playing a fictional character. She’s actually the host of a new dating show!
She won’t just be the face of any reality TV series — Orji will be leading the way on Netflix’s Pop the Balloon, a dating show that will air live on the streamer. With everyone around her looking for romance, you’re probably wondering about Orji’s own love life.
Since she’ll be guiding hopeful contestants through this dating extravaganza from April 10 onwards, it’s time to take a closer look at Orji’s romantic history.
Is Yvonne Orji dating anyone?
The comedian often shares snapshots of her personal life with her Instagram followers. As of now, it appears that there is no special someone in her life at the moment.
She was previously in a relationship with former NFL player and sports analyst Emmanuel Acho. They broke up in 2019 after going public with their relationship in 2018. It’s unknown whether she has dated anyone seriously since their split.
What has Yvonne Orji said about being a virgin?
The host is 41 and has never had sex. Orji has been vocal about her decision to remain a virgin until marriage.
Right before her career took off, Orji had a conversation with God. She shared with PEOPLE, “Before any of [the fame] happened, I sat down with myself and with God and thought, when I make it, how do you want me to represent you while I’m here? It was like, okay, I know why I’m here. It’s to make you proud.”
The devoted Christian is proud to discuss her decision with anyone. “People ask about it because they’re curious, or they may not understand,” she added. “How will they ever get understand if I don’t talk about it? I can inform your curiosity, as opposed to everyone being in the dark and just sort of creating their own narrative about it.”
She opened up further about being a virgin on Chelsea Handler‘s podcast. “People were like, ‘Oh Yvonne,’” Orji laughed. She added that her future husband will need to be prepared for her when they finally do have sex. “Pray for him, whoever he is, there’s a lot of pent-up energy up in here with me,” she said.
Handler picked up on that and stated that Orji would “need a couple of men” to satisfy her desires. Orji replied with a laugh, “Yvonne went from being a virgin to polyamory.”
