Dancing With the Stars pro Britt Stewart and her Season 31 partner Daniel Durant didn’t win the show’s coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy, but they did find something far more treasured – each other! The couple fell in love after they were paired together on the ABC dance competition reality series, and now they’re planning their wedding!

Swooon caught up with Stewart at the Hulu Gets Real event in Beverly Hills. The spectacular gala assembled not only DWTS pro dancers but also stars from The Bachelor, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, The Golden Bachelor, and The Kardashians. Stewart and several other DWTS pros recently wrapped the show’s nationwide live tour, and she’s ready to dive deep into wedding planning.

“I’m doing some choreographing, but the most important thing is I’m getting married later this year, so I’m in full wedding planning bridal mode!” she gushed to Swooon.

Do Stewart and Durant ever think about making their wedding a televised spectacular (if that were offered to them) given how popular DWTS couples are? Or do they prefer to keep their ceremony limited to family and close friends? Or something in between?

“Privacy is a massive deal for Daniel and me,” Stewart shared. “Authenticity is a huge part of our individual selves. We are trying to find a balance. We also recognize that we are a public couple. So, we are open to — I don’t like to use the word ‘exposing’ — but we are open to sharing [our special day].”

She added, “We understand there’s interest. We’re open to happily sharing specific moments of our wedding, but then, we’ll have other moments that we will be private for us.”

The couple first confirmed their romance in February 2023, months after Season 31 ended. In December 2023, Durant popped the question to Stewart.

Swooon has no doubt that the couple’s wedding dance as husband and wife will be spectacular. We’d expect nothing less from the pair that went to the Season 31 semi-finals. One of Stewart and Durant’s most memorable dance was their Jazz to the Depeche Mode song “Enjoy the Silence” in Week 8 of the competition. At one point during their performance, the music went silent as the couple continued to dance. In that moment, the audience got a sense of what living in Durant’s world as a deaf person must be like.

“I am always my harshest critic,” Stewart said. “I always see things that I can do better as an artist, a dancer. [But] that was one of my proudest moments. I am extremely proud of that moment.” (The couple scored 39 points out of 40 for their Jazz, a near-perfect score!)

Whether Stewart goes to the semi-finals, finals, or has a more abbreviated season as she did in Season 33 with Eric Roberts, the dancer said that each journey she takes is destined to be hers. “I always say that each of my partners is meant to be,” she told Swooon. “They’re part of my journey for a reason. Eric is part of that journey, and he is so sweet. He and his wife, Eliza, treated me like I was another one of their kids. They’re so sweet and so grateful for the partnership I was able to create with Eric.”
