‘Bringing Up Bates’ Star Josie Bates & Husband Share Exciting Family Update
Josie Bates and Kelton Balka have a lot to celebrate this spring. The Bringing Up Bates star shared some fantastic news with her Instagram followers on Sunday, April 27.
Bates posted a video of herself, Balka, and their three children wearing white outfits while holding hands and walking in a grassy field. The footage then cut to a close-up of the former reality star, who was holding up a very important photograph.
The picture was actually a sonogram, and the social media post was Bates’ way of announcing her pregnancy with baby No. 4! “OH BABY,” she captioned the video, which also showed her rubbing her baby bump to show it off. The growing bump was clearly visible in Bates’ sweater dress, but she made sure accentuate it by turning sideways and revealing it to the camera.
Bates and Balka tied the knot in October 2018 in Tennessee and wasted no time expanding their family. Their first child, daughter Willow, was born in July 2019, followed by another baby girl, Hazel, in June 2021. The first boy was added to the mix when Miles was born in February 2024. Bates has not revealed the sex of her fourth child yet.

The comments section of her announcement post was filled with loving messages from fans, family, and friends, “Your family just keeps getting cuter!!!! Congratulations!!!” Carlin Bates gushed, while Zach Bates wrote, “Soo happy for you guys.”
The official Bates family Instagram account also commented, writing, “This is the best news Ever!!!! So so so excited!!!”
Earlier this month, Bates and Balka got some private time away from their children. They went on a cruise together and soaked up their moments alone. “The sweetest few days with the love of my life,” Bates captioned an Instagram post from the trip. “Going home feeling so refreshed and can’t wait to squeeze our babies.”
