Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines tied the knot on May 31, 2003. Ten years later, their show Fixer Upper premiered on HGTV and made them a reality television power couple.

Chip also honored Joanna for her birthday on April 19 by getting a haircut just for her. “You look good @chipgaines! 😍,” she gushed on Instagram after.
Do Chip and Joanna Gaines have kids?
Yes, they have five children together. Their children are Drake, Ella, Duke, Emmie, and Crew. Drake is the firstborn child, whom the couple welcomed in 2005. Ella was born in October 2006, followed by Duke in May 2008, Emmie in January 2010, and Crew in June 2018.
“They’re all developing these big beautiful personalities,” Chip said on the Today show in 2024. “Crew… now, he’s a 6-year-old little boy with all this energy and personality of his own. We’ve got a little boy that’s gone off to college. I mean, you guys understand all that. So here I am at 50, feeling wonderful, like, from a family standpoint.”
Why did Chip and Joanna Gaines leave Fixer Upper?
Chip and Joanna decided to end Fixer Upper in order to focus on their family. With four young children at the time — Crew didn’t join the family until after the decision was made in 2017 — the HGTV stars said they wanted to provide a “normal childhood” for their brood.
Chip also admitted to feeling “burned out” by the demanding schedule of the show, which he said started happening as early as Season 3. Plus, the direction they wanted to take their business in wasn’t aligning with the show.
“The show was limiting our involvement in what was taking place here in this office,” Joanna told Fox News in 2020. “We were pouring so much time into doing this thing that had to fit in this format, and it was a conflict with our growing business.”
The pair created their own Magnolia Network in 2022. They introduced the network with a Fixer Upper spinoff, Fixer Upper: Welcome Home, which aired for one season in 2021 before Magnolia Network’s official launch.
